Unaware of Swinburne rapid charger was down. Was worried not enough charge to go home. Visited BMW Melbourne city for charging as chargers are show on charge point website. When I arrived, the dealer told me the charger was not fit to my car, then said there will be no problem with a BMW but mine isn't. I am pretty sure mine, my son's and my grand children's won't be a BMW! Fortunately, I arrived in the point cook charger with 9km left in GoM. If the Chargers are not available for charge point customers, they should not show them on their website!! Bad PR from BMW there. They have the regular ChargePoint units that everyone else has that work perfectly fine with our LEAF. They are however only allowing BMW i3 customers park there.

The charge point charger installed there has 2 outlets and at least one of them is on a "Customer" parking spot. Obviously, the original intent was to allow a "customer" to charge there and anyone walking into their shop is a customer, right? But the dealer ICE'd it with one of their on sale 2nd hand BMW. I think they did it by intention. They just don't want others to use this charger. To be honest, I will never buy their overpriced EV. The layout of the i3 is simply impractical (for our family; can only carry 4 person and the boot is soooooo small). 80k for this thing?! I will go for a Tesla S70D or a LEAF (if I can't afford a Tesla).

It is probably a misunderstanding. Not many people in the car dealerships know anything about electric cars or their costs to fill up. I understand then prioritising their customers over other EV users.

That's a ridiculous situation and will require some feedback. Given how cheap it is to charge the car, and how expensive a Chargepoint system is, it's of much more benefit to BMW if they allow PROSPECTIVE customers charge, rather than existing customers.
Very few people will go and use their charging station if they have already bought a BMW i3/i8, unless they were going to the dealer for some reason, or they had lunch on Southbank. It will just sit idle most of the time. That's silly.

I arrived in Point Cook Town Centre with 9km and have lunch with family. After the lunch (about 1.5 hour later), the battery charged back to 40+km and I can go to other places to complete my shopping. I really like the charger in Point Cook Town Centre. Thank you Chris for making it happened.
