I propose a social media push on Nissan to start putting some real $$ towards a rapid charge network. Some funding towards Veefil would be nice to support a startup Ozzie company. I am a little tired of the self praising posts on facebook by nissan on the leaf with no real support behind the scenes. It's become apparent in Europe that if you put in the network, the people will buy the cars. Thoughts on this idea folks?

partially we need to be realisitic
what you have in france requires partership with councils etc..
so you would have to ask what they have in the USA and has nissian to install at dealerships because that's where nissan hq has some control over. even then we know dealerships and indpendantly owned.
so create a map of what you would call key dealerships and locations and go from there.

I'm back in Oz, but understand what you are saying. Nissan are the prime supporter in France with councils providing real estate.

Hi, some councils have sustainable transport policies that may mention EVs, for example Sunshine Coast Council, so they could be worth approaching. Councils perhaps also have more suitable locations for recharging (I'd rather hang around at a library than at a Nissan dealership during a recharge). Some sort of co-funding or sponsorship with Nissan could be good.

Some sort of co-funding or sponsorship with Nissan could be good. I wonder how good councils understand the needs of EV drivers. They may end up installing chargers in wrong locations. Councils need experts to help them to put their chargers to maximise the benefits (e.g., more business for restaurants, maximise charger usages). Also, there should be someone having a bigger picture of where these chargers should be installed so that chargers from different councils, gov, etc, will work together to achieve goals that make more sense for EV drivers (e.g., form a EV highway between capital cities/towns). Given Nissan's experience in Japan, UK and US, I think Nissan is a very good candidate to provide consultations to councils. If Nissan can put money in and actively pushing for a bigger charging network, it can greatly increase the confident of councils on EV chargers and install more chargers.

I agree that something needs to happen before we will see a takeup of more EVs in Oz, you realistically can't travel more than 60 klms from your base without range concerns, we live just the city side of Penrith and can't even get to Katoomba comfortably. Whenever you talk to someone and show them your Leaf they are impressed, they think it impressive it only takes 20 mins to recharge on a fast charger, then they go cold when they find out the limited number of fast chargers available. Nissan need to take up the fight here if they are serious about promoting our wonderful car as it is the way vehicle transport must evolve

Try fund raising in the ev community. 30 people with $1000 will get you on the way to having a DC fast charger. Might get Nissan to add a bit to it?

Electricity could be covered as a fee per charge. But maintenance / insurance and connection fees would have to be a subscription? Not sure, but something could be done. But either way, someone somewhere needs to pony up cash

Yes, it does. Not sure how else to do it, unless it is a not for profit, but that is a business that purposely does not make money?

A fast charge on the central coast - that would be wonderful.
