Hi, Five years' free servicing is a great deal. If you don't mind me asking, what profession comes with that perk?
It does look like a great car, and the interior is quite interesting in the use of materials.

Any idea why it is only 4 star rated. Not like BMW to skimp on safety. (From one too lazy to look it up on the web) Lack of the setbelt things but also because it didn't score so well in pedestrian safety. Fine for those inside the car though

i3s over here are using the CCS Combo 1. In Japan I believe they fit a Chademo point in the front (frunk)

Looks like I'll be ordering a Rex in white next week... Expensive but the amount of stuff you get for that price... Hard to compare it to a leaf. Still can't really be sure if I like white though. Laurus Grey is more preferred but not extra keen to pay more for a colour. As a result of my profession and being a part of a association, I'll also be getting 5 years free servicing on the i3. Which takes the total cost down in my eyes. I like the White.

In Japan I believe they fit a Chademo point in the front (frunk) Actually I think the CHAdeMO is on the side and the J1772 port is in the frunk in the Japanse i3. It just suits their usage patterns better over there since there are less private garages to charge overnight.

Go mennekes, you can use 3 phase 22kw AC. Well, if you have a tesla or Zoe. Rest of us can use the mennekes to j1772 adapter cable. I completely agree - we are a three phase nation. Why do the suppliers continue to ship cars with J1772 outlets to Australia and NZ? J1772 should be the domain of single phase nations like USA and Japan. Interesting to note that was the expectation of the EV trial group in WA, at least it was in 2012 in their trial report, therevproject.com/trialreport.pdf, where they wrote: " For this reason [ie, support of single and three phase power like you point out, lesmando24] it is expected that Australia will eventually adopt the Type 2 [ie, Mennekes] charging standard." Interesting, elsewhere in this report it is noted: " The fact that Standards Australia has not made a recommendation for either Type 1 or Type 2 is not ideal, as in the mean time stations and vehicles of either type are being imported into the country, creating a legacy problem"

which is why I hate CCS because it has 2 plug types but all that is different is the plugs. I spent some time asking veefil if it's possible to swap their type 1 CCS plug with a type 2 at a later date. the emails ended with them asking why and me telling them bmw is wrong !
eventually we'll want larger on board chargers who doesn't want a 20kW on board charger but there is no way in hell the electrical company’s will let you load up 80amps on a single phase so we have to 3 phase.

Is anyone able to source a good i3 in Arravanti grey? No fillers or sorry lights on it? It's a toss up between that and white :/

What about high def Nav screen Auto park Tyre pressure monitoring Keyless entry ? That's stock... I was explained that the i range models here in Aus is the middle package of features and things like park assist and the other things you mentioned are stock standard here. Tire pressure monitor might be part of your adaptive cruise option you bought?

We went for an i3 test drive in Bris on Saturday, and came away totally dazzled - by the BMW dealership(great coffee, valet parking), the sales service (knowledgeable, enthusiastic, but not pushy), and mostly the car, just wow. It looks so cool inside and out. I got a surprise seeing the tincy-wincy boot, but can now understand why it is so tiny - the engine is totally concealed underneath the boot. The use of the carbon fibre and other unusual materials is so interesting to see, and the amount of connectivity/fancy screen options was overwhelming. The drive was so neat, with a turning circle that felt like spinning on a dime, and the oomph and regenerative braking. The exterior quiet hit me when I stopped for some pedestrians crossing the road as I turned into a street, as I could see they hadn't heard the vehicle at all and were walking along oblivious - a bit of a potential hazard of electric cars, really. Another feature is the thermoplastic body panels which are resistant to dings and scratches. At the launch of the car during the G20 in Brisbane, apparently a police horse kicked the demo car, but no damage was done! So, heaps of fun, but not a practical car for our five-person family, and just too dear, but very impressed. My husband and I decided that perhaps there may be a second-hand i3 in our future sometime post-kids. The salesman said that they'd sold 18 of them since opening in December, and they'd also sold one i8, which we saw on the floor - 300K!

Maybe we'll talk in 5 years time from now and we can arrange that used i3 sale

I did  Besides that, auto park, sat nav, DAB, etc were all included. You only paid extra for fast charge, adaptive cruise cruise and 1 other feature didn't you?

When I did a 2nd test drive after buying it; their Rex demo model acceleration didn't seem as quick as before. But after reading another review from the states it reminded me that the 0-40 isn't fast but the 5-40 is...
AKA it's not a Tesla.
