Does anyone know when Nissan will release the 2015 Nissan Leaf that is available in the USA and UK?
Is it worth waiting or get the 2013 model?
My dream car is a Tesla which I saw a P85 for the first time last Saturday night in Melbourne, I could not believe it!

Nissan are still selling the 2012 model (although you may get that it is a 2014 model on your paperwork. This was very clearly pointed out to me by the sales man so no trying to cover it up). It appears that they ordered a whole lot to start with and will not be importing any more in until the current stock is used up. On the plus note you cannot get any white Leafs now as they are all sold out.
My thoughts about buying now. You still get the new car warrantee and battery warrantee. The battery will be a bit degraded due to sitting in storage for a few years but there has been little discussion on this site about significant degradation of the battery. Waiting for the new model to be imported will have you spending/wasting money on fuel, and the new model will not come at the same price. Of course the new model may have a 300km battery range (as opposed to the current 120km).
If you have the money and want to do something for the environment and Australian energy security, buy now.

Also it's difficult to predict whether new models will continue with the same pricing we've gotten used to or will be higher. Now that the tech has settled in and has done well around the world you would expect the prices to have come down quite a bit, even for the new model.

The other plus I missed for waiting is the 6.6kW charger not the 3.3kW charger in the 2012 model. I'd still buy now. Wait, I did.

Perhaps there are still some white Leafs available if your local agent tries hard enough?

Recycling an old thread instead of starting a new one. Here's some new information on the next LEAF which Australia will be getting: www.caradvice.com.au/510181/nissan-australia-planning-for-next-gen-leaf/I still feel Nissan Australia didn't try hard enough and Richard Emery is just paying lip service. The article says they're still selling off the old stock in 2017. A five year old car as new. Is that unheard of? What do they take us for!?

Thanks Feng, news about the 3rd Gen Leaf has been as rare as hen's teeth! Good to hear Nissan will be bringing it here, they can hardly do a worse job selling it than they did with the 1st Gen. It looks like it will arrive here about the same time as the RHD Tesla Model 3 will arrive. By all accounts on this forum, Nissan sold the last 1st Gen Leaf in Australia in June 2016. So the line in the article is either a misinterpretation or misunderstanding by the journalist, or John Chidgey, who reported here that he was sold the last Leaf, was lied to. I really can't believe that Nissan still has unsold 1st Gen Leafs here, unless it's actually "new" old stock dumped from elsewhere in the world.

Caradvice, like many other journo blabberings is an opinion, and could well be mis-informed.... or have an agenda, dollars or otherwise. I recently roasted one such 'journo' on his mindless promotion of diesel SUV's as perfect for the school run. He saw the lack of foresight next issue. A journo, & ability are sometimes like Facebook. If I took heed of the journo'S, my life would be markedly different. View all blabbering as opinions, and draw ones own conclusions. If the journo was so all-seeing, why are they Journos?. Just my $0.01 worth!.
