I was showing the LEAF to someone at the Coburg meet and mentioning that I charge from off peak power, when he commented that I should be careful as with daylight savings off peak shifts from 11pm-7am to 12am-8 am.
I was a bit shocked as my timer is set to start just after 11 am. I called my electricity company this morning and they confirmed that some meters do not adjust their daylight saving times. I went out and checked mine and sure enough, it was still showing standard times.
On most nights, the Leaf ends up charging for 2 hours, so this means that we have been charging on peak power for half of our use!! That is a nasty surprise!
I recommend for everyone to check their meter timing. I think I will just leave mine to permanently start after midnight!
I guess the only consolation is that it is lucky that we have found it out at the start of daylight saving and not at the end... However, early this year we had it all wrong!

I always set my timer to 1am to avoid all of it. My charger can do the entire car in about 5 hours so doesn't really make a difference to me. Usually it has 30% to start and I only charge to 80% so it probably only goes for a couple of hours anyway.
