I cancelled my Model S test drive (too much money :-( but I might go along to take a look and see what else is here ...
Is this of a similar size to the Swinburne Uni event we all trundled along too ? Just wondering if the aeva would appreciate a group of LEAF's to support their message ...

I think any increase in numbers help. and any meet up is a good one. AEVA seem to have a identity issue with the increase of production cars they have been all about conversions for years. but I think they will be a good advocate moving forward.

I agree with the identity problem. Last year it was very electric bike focused. It's my day off so I'll try to get over there, Stewart from the Moreland City Council is a great EV advocate whom I'm sure will be there and would be great to catch up with. Hopefully more LEAF owners go that are not from this forum. Then we can let them know we are here.

Ok, any proposals on what time we should meet and where (ie prior?)?

I should be able to be there, but I'll have to leave about 2:00.
One suggestion is the Coburg Leisure Comnplex which is on the other side of Bell St. It has a good size carpark.

I can make it for 10am. It'd be nice to be able to park all the Leafs together within site of the festival. From my one and only visit to Coburg the other day I recall a fair sized carpark out the back. There's a lot of construction going on though so the number of spots might be reduced. Edit: this is the pic I took of the Council Leaf and in front of it there was a pretty big carpark. I assume this is where they will park the "show" cars. After a small piece of grass there was some additional parking. Not sure where the other thing is (suggested above).

I just posted the following question to the Aeva : ...
I belong to a leaf ev forum (oz http://leaf.proboards.com) and we previously attended the Swinburne ev event earlier in the year with 5 privately owned leafs (and ended up giving rides and discussions with passers by).
We had wondered if you'd appreciate a similar contingent at the go electric festival on the 26th?
We are a group of owners across Australia with experiences of the leaf since its on sale in Aus. I wanted to know whether you can see benefit in allocated display parking if we clean our cars up a bit. We are flexible but wanted to give you the option. Looking forward to hearing from you.
....
Will keep you posted on if/ when I hear a reply.

The response ....
Thanks for getting in contact, yes we want as many EV's that look like they are part of the event attending as possible. There are a few display spots still available so we would currently be able to put one on site, the downside being it has to stay there all day as there is no movement under power allowed because it will be a pedestrian area. We also intend to reserve the parking on the South side of Urquhart St next to the car park for EV's only. You could park there, and give people rides on the shortloop around the Town Hall if you wanted. Officially the event is NOT offering to give test rides, we don't have the resources to manage it. Please stay in touch, and please consider joining AEVA
....
that was from Daryl Budgeon.
I'm thinking that leaving the car all day before 10am to after 4pm is probably a tall ask for any of us - so how about meet at the leisure complex on the other side of bell street as leighf suggested (about 9:30?) - then we can mini convoy into the Urqhart St EV-only carpark ? Alternatively we can meet straight in the Urqhart St EV-only carpark.
Let me know your thoughts - and if someone wants to leave their leaf for the day in the display spot.

I thought maybe a bit of forum advertising wouldn't harm ..... I was going to reuse this to A5 and stick it on the dash. Any thoughts ? Aus Leaf Owners.pdf (169.82 KB) I obviously made it a red one because mine is ;-)

I don't mind to meet straight at the EV only parking area at 9.30. At least that way we should all get a spot together...

I'll probably not be able to get there until about 10am so I'll have to just head to the EV spots (if there's any left).

I'm fine with meeting at the EV only parking area at 9:30.
At the Swinburne event I thought it was great just chatting to people giving our experiences as everyday LEAF owners.

5 Leafs a good number and I think equals/exceeds the Swinburne outing.
Any other takers ?

Good to catch up with a few of you today (had to leave about 12:30) and see the metal on display (tesla model s x 2 [drool], Renault twizy [bonkers but applaud Renault for making it], renault kangoo, Mitsubishi outlander phev, Holden volt and other conversions ).
Interesting to see the larger percentage of production cars / potential production cars vs the own conversions compared to the Swinburne event earlier in the year.
It's fair to say that the tesla model s had the majority of the visitors interest - they were a good draw, but it was a great sight to see 6 leafs holding fort in the Ev-only parking at the front of the event.

We had 7 Leafs in a row at some stage, that is not even a tree but almost a forest! (at least in Australia ) There were also Leafs on display and in the back carpark. Quite a few visitors with Volts as well, so as eburbsleaf said, production cars are definitely around now.

Great to meet you guys today. Sorry I missed a few of you. Nice weather, good turnout, some cool cars on display - I want a Twizy! How dirty was my car compared to all these shiny ones

You guys have set the bar, the most we've had in NSW was six at the same time (different combinations of six in Hornsby and Bateau Bay). Not sure if it'll be surpassed any time soon.
