Hi,
I have my leaf ordered. The dealer showed me their EVSE. The EVSE had Clipsal transparent plug that can plug into their industrial strength socket. Obviously, the plug was replaced by an Electrician but the sales person claim it is from Nissan.
Now, I need to install a 15 AMP circuit to my garage. I need to know exactly the shape of the plug.
Can you tell me if the EVSE will have the Clispal plug or just a normal 15 AMP black plug? If possible, can you post the image of the plug here? Thanks.

This is what mine looks like. Standard 15amp socket should be all you need though the big casing means you need some space around it. My guess is since they didn't need thousands made they probably just hired someone to replace all the plugs.

Same here. Since the EVSE only draws 10 amps, I avoided installing a 15 amp circuit by using an adapter from jaycar to safely plug it into a 10 amp socket. Keep in mind that the Clipsal 15 amp plug will fit perfectly fine into a GPO 15 amp socket. You just won't get the water proof seal www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MS4044

Thanks. Jim and Phoebe. This is exactly what I saw. Now, I can tell the electrician exactly what I need to fit in.

they are called IP56 Industrial once connected to a IP56 socket you can basically water blast them.
you can use a normal socket and it's sightly cheaper ~$50 from memory. but the industrial socket gives better water protection and ensures the plug stays in because the plug is screwed into the socket.

I brought one already However, I found out the circuit in the garage is shared with the washing room. If we run the washing machine and charging the car at the same time (off-peak period), it may overload the circuit and trip the MCB. Therefore, in the long term, I need a 15 amp circuit. I am thinking to have a 20 amp instead to allow flexibility in charging the car with a clipper creek 16 amp charger in the future.

I found that the EVSE is quite heavy. The dealer told me the socket (i.e., IP56) can hold the weight of the EVSE without issues. Is that true? I am afraid there are too much stress on the cabling of the EVSE. Thanks.

it can but why add stress when you don't have to. the i-miev one comes with a shoe lace which goes in the top 2 holes on the EVSE which you then either hook on to the socket cover or on to a hook that is next to the plug. See picture from AEVA forums of a i-miev install forums.aeva.asn.au/forums/uploads/3219/Solar_plus_EV_Sockets_Lores.jpg buy a hook and a shoe lace

My 15 amp power point is low enough so the unit sits on the ground - no stress on anything, no need for hook and shoe lace .

Yep, because my house is made of fibro (asbestos) the electrician brought the cable out through a ventilation hole in the foundations so as not to drill through the asbestos. This was done before I took delivery of my LEAF and I didn't realise until I had my LEAF that it had the added advantage of there being no stress on the cable, no need for a hook and a shoe lace
