Hi,
I have been a guest in this forum for a few months.
A few weeks ago, our family test droves the car and we all love it.
Last week, I finally received the approval from my boss (in the family) to purchase a Nissan LEAF as the second car.
I am planning to have the car in mid-October.
Can anyone tell roughly how long it will take for dealers to deliver the car in Melbourne so that I know when to ask them for quotes, etc.?

Welcome to the forum, Jacky. You could ask a dealer that without getting a quote yet. I had to wait 6 weeks but I think it should be shorter than that now as all the stock is in Australia.

Thanks for the reply. I will contact the dealer again. Mine was already at the dealer when I brought it. So under a week! Shouldn't take too long at all now. Where in Melbourne are you located?

I bought mine in Sydney, and it took about a month.
The delivery time will depend on which options you get, and these can make a big difference to the price too. You need to think about this before talking to the dealer.
Options to get: The mud flap things - makes the car look a lot smarter, but you can get them after delivery too I think. Paint colour Mats Roof racks, if you use them. They will effect your range, but are demountable. Tinted windows
Options to avoid Car alarm - I have one and it's not worth the money The gadget that stops people stealing your EVSE when charging in public. A padlock can do the same job. Paint protection - a detailer will give you a much better deal for the same thing
Try and avoid signing anything or even being too enthusiastic on the first visit (your just looking at the options - be sure and ask if they have heard about the BMW EV). The dealer will be more willing to offer incentives and bring the price down if he thinks he might loose you.
Good luck,
Mark

Mine took about a week and a half as it was in a close dealers car yard.

I am in Point Cook, VIC.
I am going to buy a sliver LEAF with mud flap, mats and scuff plate on rear bumper. Not sure I will do the tinting via the dealer or not but I will do the paint protection with detailers.
Any idea about what a good deal looks like? I think $39990 is the official price. I read southernvolt was able to get one recently at $36990 but it seems the car is a demo.
Thank you for all the information.
I want an EV badly but... Some "smart" people in Nissan asked for 51k + tax + delivery charge for a LEAF when I needed to replace my car 2 years ago...
These people should be fired.
I hope this time I can get one.
Thanks again for the help.

Hi Jacky, I would not worry about getting tinting via the dealer. The rear side and boot windows come already tinted at the factory.

If it's any consolation the previous senior management at Nissan Australia was replaced earlier this year with one which seems to be more in touch with reality.

Thank you for the info. I think the dealer will ask me to tint windows (and charge a full service, of course) even part of the windows are tinted

I really want EV to be success in Australia. There was a chance but Nissan ruined it and Better Place bankrupt.Hopefully, Tesla III & their super-charging network will be success. If Elon Musk can make Tesla III, it will replace my current ICE and I won't have to buy petrol anymore!

EV will be a success in Australia - just take a little longer than some other places 'cos of small population and large distances. When I came out from England in 1950 there was no TV in Australia, but it came a few years later. I have watched PCs, mobile phones, and the Internet come - all things we take for granted now. It will be the same with EVs, I may not see it, but it will happen

A recent buyer in Perth has been told 3 weeks for delivery, and that is coming from the East. Unless it is an ex-demo, Jacky, feel good about anything under $39,990. We paid $59,000 two years ago, so you will be winning big time. The pleasure you will get from driving this car will make you forget the price anyway
