Just as ships have lifeboats, perhaps we should keep one of these super-cool bits of kit in the boot in case we run out of juice, or have to park too far away from our favourite watering hole ? Think Segway, without handle bars, and with your feet outside the two wheels. Or you could drive your LEAF to the nearest station, take the Airwheel with you, and then ride it from the city station to your office. For those in Melbun, the website even has a video of a bloke riding one whilst holding his open umbrella against the rain

Yet another appalling example of the " nanny state ". I would be the first to agree that they are not suitable for use on the roads, but I would submit that they could be potentially a lot safer than a Rabid Senior on a goffer on the footpaths . The visibility is much better for a start, and secondly the rider is more vulnerable in an accident, therefore the self-preservation instinct is stronger. Could it be that the fossil fuel industry fears loss of profits, and the government fears loss of tax revenue ?
