Are there are any 'Nissan' Level-3 DC fast chargers installed either at Nissan dealerships or any other locations in AUS. I believe that the model manufactured in Japan and shown below is very cost competitive against all other brands on the market ! Reason for, I would like to consider bringing a trial unit into NZ with a view to getting UL approval. Currently we only have one fast charger in the country. Regards, Peter in NZ

Thanks for that. I would be interested if you get any feedback.
I am really surprised that Nissan AUS has only/mainly concentrated on moving the 'Leaf' and not used the fast charge product as a promotion point!
Nissan NZ has ordered about 40 Leaf's from AUS I believe. WE have not yet had the uptake in NZ for EV's such as in AUS. The strange thing is in clean green NZ we have about 75% of the energy generated from Hydro/Thermal so you would think the government might give us some incentives to purchase EV's and keep the clean green model going, but so far nothing. Nissan aus brought the leaf out well before they started making fast chargers. and to be frank Australia and new Zealand are waste of money to put them in Nissan sell more LEAFs in the USA in one month than they've sold in Australia since release.
which is basically the first reply we got was that the chademo units where prioritised to the USA and Japan markets first.

I am still on a private one man mission to get hold of a Nissan DC Fast charger from Japan.
I was in contact with a rep from AeroEnviroment in the USA whom distribute the chargers, they are not allowed to export the unit outside of the USA.
If anyone per chance has a direct contact person (preferably an email) for Nissan Japan, that would be really appreciated, or even someone whom has a good repore with anyone at Nissan AUS, they maybe are able to provide a contact !!
Thanks in anticipation > Regards .... Peter

how much are you prepared to pay for one? because there are plenty of other options. www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2010/_STORY/100521-01-e.html the hot climate equates to about $18k just on currency conversion. without shipping or taxes. so what are we talking by the time it gets to NZ 22k ? plus time and then getting it approved for use. the closer you get to the $30k-40k mark the more other brands cost just about the same. like the Australian veefill units. sorry also forgot that a USA and Japanese model will require modification step down transformer probably to work at the 200VAC 3phase not the 415V 3 phase we have in Australia. chargepoint have informed me that's what they do for the Fuji electric units they have in Australia.

At this point in time I don't have a funding option arranged, but after lookin around it appears that the Nissan Japan propriety unit is the most cost effective.
I had a brief discussion with the local Leaf dealer and I also need to talk to council to generate more interest, possibly for a JV or similar. I have already been in contact with Veefil, their units are around 35K which is at the high end of the scale.
I believe Schneider Electric in AUS might have some 'used' units which were removed when Better Place went under, if they still have them available, it could be a long shot option at a bargain price for a trail unit !
I still think the Nissan units, not withstanding the technical modifications mentioned, might be the most cost effective and suit the Nissan business model best. Regards . Peter

55 k was the highest number I've been quoted by chargepoint Australia for the fuji unit.
Enquire with dbt in France. And circontrol in Spain. Dbt appears to supply nissian in Europe.

Hi Peter,
Way to go! Good luck with your efforts.
I guess you're up North somewhere? Rather than down here in flat-and-I'm-sure-perfect-terrain-for-EVs in Christchurch - and I'm sure perfect for a fast charger too! (Hopefully one day we might have a few more on the road.)
Cheers Mark

Cheers Mark I'm actually in Upper Hutt which is 35kms. north of Wellington. I know that it is very difficult in NZ to get projects that cost money off the ground, especially new tech ideas like EV's, but that does not mean that we should not try. Take care, hope the rebuild continues with haste in ChCh > Peter

You could be 100% correct about wasting my time. I'm actually 'semi-retired' after working over 20 years in the security industry with Chubb NZ so I do have some spare time on my hands to mull over project ideas and the likes. Currently am still looking specifically at the Nissan unit and ideas to secure one from Japan. Nissan also have another Leaf to Home unit powering the home from the Leaf battery which has some merit as well as it can charge the leaf and provide power to the home in emergencies. Have also made contact with another international company in NZ whom are getting UL approval at this time for their brand "DC" fast charger, so have a couple of irons in the fire. The Leaf to Home product > It is less costly than the full blown DC fast charger but has unique features, could be an option Cheers > Peter The EV Power Station : Specifications <When charging Nissan LEAFs> Input voltage: Single-phase, AC 200V (±15%), 50 Hz/60 Hz (±5%) Input current range: AC 0-36A Output voltage range: Maximum DC 450V Peak power output: 6kW Conversion efficiency: 90% or more (at rated output) Power factor: 99% or more (at rated output) <When supplying power to households> Input voltage range: Maximum DC 450V Input current range: DC 0-30A (Limited by cable specifications) Output voltage: Single-phase three-wire system (AC 100V x two-phase) AC100V (±6%), 50Hz / 60Hz AC 200V (±6%), 50Hz / 60Hz (Max.±2%) Output current range: AC 0 - 30A Peak power output: 6kW (Single-phased, AC 100V·3kW x two-phase) Conversion efficiency: 90% or more (at rated output) External dimensions: 650 mm (W) x 350 mm (D) x 781 mm (H) (excluding projecting parts) Mass: Approx. 60 kg

Veefil's main test car is a Nissan Leaf, so no worries about compatibility for most of the members of this forum

It's Alive! power has been connected. Charged i-MiEV 2x yesterday Sunday for testing purposes. great to have i-MiEV cos it fits on the pavement. Bollards haven't been put up yet n road paint not yet present. went there this morning to check out the slower charging restart after the fast charge. Estimated time was 60 mins but really takes 37mins. api.plugshare.com/view/location/57171still needs a bit more setup before public use.

I think DBT had three different software changes before they got the LEAF charging right in UK. Shouldn't be that hard really you would think.
