I'm only new to the LEAF but I have plans to slowly make my way around Melbourne finding out about the charging spots we can use. This way we can validate the lists on plugshare and the like.
For instance I tried to track down the one's out East and found that although they are still listed on the plugshare site they don't actually exist at all, for example: Cardinia Shire Council EV Plug (J1772)Address 2 Henty Way, Pakenham VIC 3810, Australia Available during Council office hours. Please call 1300 787 624 to arrange a charging session prior to arrival.
This doesn't exist at all anymore. There obviously used to be a bay but they've even painted over the electric symbol.
Anyone know whether the City of Kingston one exists anymore? 1230 Nepean Hwy., Cheltenham, VIC, 3192 Description City of Kingston, Admin. Building - the charger is located in the basement car park.
For one of my first big trips I'm trying to work out if I can go down the Mornington Peninsula and make it home or if I'll need to hit a charger on the way back.

Please also enquire at holiday / recreation / caravan parks We have quite a few progressive ones here in wa. Although they do charge you for a powered site. Ie $28 at times.
Also wineries and olive farms and other farms cos they already have lots of power which is sometimes renewable. Eg acmotor in wa
Rob with his mitsu phev have put some feelers out Also a member of the south Perth yacht club.

I connected to my first charger today . For about 10 minutes as I just wanted to see if the card worked - it did. I even checked in so leafboi doesn't feel so lonely Blackburn Nissan - 5 stars.

I know! I saw the check in on plugshare because I randomly open it and noticed you had only just gotten there. So I Quickly opened the chargepoint app and it was 'in use' at Blackburn Nissan. I smiled.

Going into the City after work in a couple of weeks; anyone know whether this station is operating:
333 Collins St Carpark
Address
333 Collins St, , Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3000
or is it better to use the Fed Square ones?

I have only used the Blink charger in the Arts Centre. There is an earlier thread discussing how you can charge without a card in there. Hopefully they have not removed it yet.

I would use fed square. I'm sure the Collins st one is closed very early, if it works. I've never been in. And fed square has 2 ChargePoint units. Just in case! And you can rebook parking to get it cheaper.

Cool thanks. I will use the Fed square one. When I go back to Swinburne to meet some friends I am going to show off by using my own dedicated, free car park and fuelling station while they drive around trying to find a park. On the Arts Centre Blink situation how do we get Chargepoint to put some chargers in there? Is there anything we can do? Seems a shame to let the chargers get removed and lose the EV spots, especialy now more are coming on the road (tesla, PHEV, etc).

Send an e-mail to the manager and ask if the charger is there or if it will be replaced by a ChargePoint one? I can send u his e-mail in a PM if you would like to do that. The more interest he sees the better...

Last time I tried in Fed Square both downstairs spaces were ICE'd, but that was about 12 months ago.
Good luck!

Leigh They say they have staff there until 12 midnight so if it's ICE'd I can phone them up. Probably not much they can do about it though - maybe leave a stern note. I will most likely need the charge to get home so if I can't get it there it'll be the Fast charger for me on the way home.

Charged for an hour and a half at the DC fast charger at Swinburne at lunch. Didn't notice the sign was hour parking On the walk back to the car I noticed the chargepoint app showed it wasn't charging and when I got back I noticed this was true. I thought it had hit 100%. Interestingly though it was one bar short. Does the machine have a one hour timer?

the spec for CHAdeMO did indicate it would only charge your car to 80%. but we've found only some units hold to this. the one in Adelaide/Sydney stops at 80% most of the time but exceeds it if you already at 70%. the old Schneider units had a 30 min timer on them as well as 80% limited.
so it's perfectly normal that it won't charge your car to 100%. because it's really not meant to.

It sometimes stops at 80% sometimes goes right to 100% although once it gets to the 80% mark it can take a further 30-40 mins to top off which is expected.

leafboi the only thing to try and guess is get leaf spy out and see if it has to do with cell temperatures. they are only meant to take you to 80% but it might decided it can keep on going if the car says it's happy.

Used the Fed Square one tonight. Super simple: pre-booked my spot for the $3 discount and drove straight into the top level one. It's a few spots in on the right from the Russell Ct entrance. Got a full charge no issues at all.

Coburg Town Hall DC fast charger. Successful Chargepoint tour on the weekend. Ceres Environment park - charged at the Solar powered Chargepoint station. Fantastic place actually with great coffee and heaps to see. Then onto the Moreland Council DC fast charger at Coburg Town Hall. They have two Level two points in the front carpark and the DC fast charger around the side under cover. Only charged for 15 minutes to check it out and there's not much to do around there. Then we charged to 100% at the Swinburne DC fast charger while having lunch at the Rocket Park.

Successful Chargepoint tour on the weekend. I saw your check ins on Plugshare app and had a feeling you were doing a 'tour'. The Morland charger is in a somewhat boring location to spend time there but it's perfect to access the northern part of the city/suburbs.

Yes one day I hope to run into you at one of these things and say hi The Moreland location does give some flexibility. Mind you it's pretty close to the Swinburne one. I'd rather there was a fast charger out west so I could make it to geelong and back. When the fancy new apartments go up across the road from the Moreland one there might at least be a nice Cafe or something built there.
