Gave up fighting with work for a lease, gave up waiting for the i3 (too expensive anyway), gave up on the Tesla (waaay too expensive), gave up waiting for the Gen II Leaf: so bought myself a 2013 one Turns out it's the one I test drove many months ago, so the first and only Leaf I've ever driven will be in my driveway next week

I got the White one in the end. It was my first choice but of recent times was leaning towards the Blue. Driveaway ended up being $36,990. I felt I might have been able to drive him a bit lower but in the end you know I just couldn't be bothered. I am very happy and felt I was getting a good deal and just didn't feel like being an a#$*.

My plan now is to upgrade and mod . I'm thinking: custom plates, then wrap the front grille, then tints and change the wheels. That's about all I feel I need to do actually as the Leaf kinda has everything else I need and I like the way it looks.

Congratulations and welcome to the club!
That is indeed a sexy looking LEAF, although I would not recommend a black roof in Australia.

On no, not in Australia! I think you are mixing it up with other parts of the world In Germany and UK you can drive in bus lanes and park free and so on and so on. Here we only have the privilege to pay full price. (sigh)

Congratulations, at last, Southernvolt. Now you will really see what you have been missing Yeah, we get no help from the government in WA, either.

I get to register the LEAF as a 3 cylinder in Queensland, so pay about $55 less than the equivalent 4 cylinder corolla etc.

anyone got a ATO ruling for claiming business kms ?

Post by Phoebe on Aug 7, 2014 23:28:46 GMT 11
Why do you need a ATO ruling? When I had a business I claimed what it cost me. I don't have a business anymore but I still keep a record of what it costs me to run my LEAF!

because when you claim using the per km method you get a cents per km figure which depends on engine size.

It's got more complicated since I wound up my business!

I have always claimed 1/3 business for my car and continue to do so with my Leaf. My accountant didn't seem to think it was an issue. I keep track of the electricity used in the Leaf and claim a third of that at year end (did so end of Fin year 13, yet to do my 2014 tax return, but planning to do same)

Southernvolt, did you get it for $36,990 with the $0 down and 0% financing for the 4 years? - Also; you said you bought a 2013 model? Did you mean to say 2012?
In regards to the black model, how much of a disadvantage are we talking compared to the white/blue model?
Thanks!

It's certainly Gen 1 Leaf as they all are in Australia but the manufacturers plate states it was made Late in 2103.

Actually I stand corrected. It has many plates on it and the important one I only just found - year of manufacture = 2012. Complianced later.
