Are we going to have an Ozleaf contingent? I plan to go on the Saturday and maybe spend the weekend up there. Might venture out to Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley on Sunday if time permits.

Wow, didn't expect a Sinclair C5 will be there, that's a blast from the past. Also looking forward to seeing the DeLorean and Tesla again.
Anyone else going?

Well, those 4 weeks are gone and we all made it, Feng only just - but he can tell you about that And Phil from Canberra made it too. Thanks to Gab, who was an official on the day for getting me sorted out to recharge and to Feng for helping me to uncouple it when I was ready to leave. Thanks to Mike for the Chargepoint cards which I have now activated and thanks to the NRMA for 2 little medical kits, one for each of my great grandchildren I was quite fascinated with the Sunswift, the UNSW racing solar car, but I was less impressed with the Tesla, that great big panel of info was too confronting for me. I prefer my LEAF, which is just as well since I can't afford a Tesla The weather held off long enough to make it a good day, but I pity those who have to go back tomorrow, if it rains as they say it will

Well, those 4 weeks are gone and we all made it, Feng only just - but he can tell you about that Man, I wasn't sure if I should have said anything about it but if there's a lesson to be learned it's never underestimate when driving to places you've never been. We got to Speers Point fine but needed to get some additional charge to cover the remaining ~13km. Phoebe said she was going to leave soon and I didn't want to miss catching her, so I cut my charging short thinking there was enough for me to get there, which there should have been if I hadn't taken a wrong turn down a long street which I couldn't u-turn easily, then had to head back uphills to continue on. The final stretch was another uphill run and I turtled about 50 metres from the entrance. Thankfully Mike was there with a ute and a snatch strap and was able to tow me to the entrance. I rolled down the driveway and turned into the EV charging spots without anyone suspecting a thing. How embarrasing was it to run out of charge right outside an EV festival. It's the kind of shame I'll never live down!

A group of four Zero motorcycles and one Leaf are heading up to the 2016 Hunter EV Festival on Saturday morning (August 13th) about 8am from Wahroonga. We'll be stopping at Oliver's Real Foods at Wyong for 1-2 hours to top up before heading to Cameron Park where the festival is being held. Most of us are heading back on Sunday morning but you can head back whenever suits. We have a 3 phase 32A distribution board that we can plug multiple bikes and cars into at Oliver's with multiple standard 15A and 10A sockets (BYO J1772 EVSE). If you'd like to join us please PM me for more details. If you're looking to head up/back from Sydney at different times this weekend and need to charge on the way I have more 3 phase 32A distribution boards that you can borrow and plug in (after asking nicely at Oliver's Real Foods northbound and southbound. That will give you up to 22kW of power so should be able to plug in quite a few EVs and charge simultaneously if there's a group. If you're going up solo there is a 10A socket at both Oliver's but you'll likely need an extension cord to reach them. Again PM me for details and hope to see you up there (I'll be on a red Zero SR).

Phoebe, did you go to the festival this year? I heard there were three LEAFs there. Starting to feel like I missed out but I went to Katoomba the day before and didn't feel like another long drive.

No, I didn't go. Was very happy I went once, but don't feel the need to go again and now I've lost one battery bar I'm a bit worried about getting all the way up that huge hill I have to climb to get there. I'd like to meet Michael Barwell, a Newcastle Tesla owner, (we follow each other on twitter) who was there, but that will have to be some other time.
