Awesome! Must also mean they expect to be able to produce enough cars for Australia to make it worth while.
I'll keep my eyes open.

*Envy*. That Model S in that photo has a nice colour. I'd like one just like that if this lotto ticket I have here is worth anything.
I wonder how do they prevent non-Model S owners from parking in their spots?

I'm getting this mental image of the Leaf running out of charge outside a Tesla super charger. Does that qualify as irony?

I have a mental image of a group of LEAF owners hanging around a Supercharger carpark. Along comes a Model S and we'll be like, "You've come to the wrong part of town...".

I hope the Tesla will see more due to the longer range. There are a lot of owners of very expensive cars in brisbane, so hopefully they will upgrade to model S. As for gizmodo, they have zero journalistic integrity. I have been on the end of one of their rants. Publishing information that was on our public outage page, not sourcing it, then proceeding to make fun of myself and others. So they are on the banned list for any of my money

Both Gizmodo and TMR are reporting the Tesla Model S price will officially be announced next week...
$95,000 for the 60kwh base spec.

This is very interesting:
"That $95,000 buys you a stock 60kWh Tesla Model S, which normally costs just over $US81,000 in North America."
Exchange rate alone brings it to about 87,000, then add GST you get $95,806, suggesting they cost the same.
I get the feeling that this is incorrect as my searches suggest that the base Model S costs about US$71,000, meaning there is still a $10k surcharge.
In the US, you also enjoy up to $15k in government rebates and extra benefits like driving in the carpool lane, so someone in the US could be driving a Model S for about the same price a LEAF originally cost here!

*sigh* I wish we had a charging network of our own even if it's on a smaller scale. I think I'm getting Tesla withdrawls after Sunday's encounter.
I've always wondered how safe their stations are from getting vandalised. Especially the ones out in the middle of nowhere. What's to stop someone from making off with the copper in the cables?
And welcome to the forum robf!

gabzi, the model 3 will be the affordable Tesla. Just a matter of time... It may be our next car after the LEAF unless Nissan does even better.
