Did anyone else just get a letter from Nissan about free capacity loss coverage? The warranty is now 5 years or 100,000km against anything below 9 bars. Pretty cool. I forget what it was before but sure it wasn't this.

by the way refresh my memory how many bars do you have when new ? It's 12 bars when new. So the warranty is for 72.5% capacity (first bar is 15%, each after is 6.25). The original guesstimate is 20% loss in the first five years, then 10% in the next five. If it's 130km real world driving range at 12 bars and assuming the degradation is linear, the warranty covers about 94km range. What do people think of that? My battery is just over two years old from date of manufacture and is at 92%. It dropped to 89% over summer but the cooler weather has brought it back up. Nice to know they're still looking after us. I wonder if we'll get any software updates next?

I think the fact that they did it and didn't have to is a good sign. They have clearly put in protection for anyone who loses more than the expected amount.

No letter today. WA - Wait Awhile.
It is good to see that they have brought it into line with overseas. I think they would have had a hard time defending a lower warranty in Australia than overseas in court. But all credit to them. They did it with no seen pressure.

I think in the U.S. it's 8 years, but good to see it get closer at least.

I think in the UK it's 5 years, this is good news though I was not too keen on only 3 years on the battery.

I got it 2 days ago as well. Feng how do you know that yours is 92%? I have also bought the leaf app and OBD scanner, but haven't spent enough time on it to figure the % loss.

So you are still seeing 12 bars then as you are still greater than 85%? (100 - 15 = 85) Cheers, Mark

That screenshot isn't mine, it was taken from the LEAF Spy Pro app page. I'm still seeing 12 bars at 93%. I'm curious to know if the bar goes back if you go below 85% and then back above it.

I checked mine, SOH on that screen is 98%, but we have only done 3200kms. I hope it will not drop 2% after every 3000kms!! Maybe I should be a bit more gentle on the Leaf, but it is such fun to leave big cars behind at the traffic lights. Not many people dare to take a Leaf on when they see how effortless it takes off

Hey Feng, is your OBD scanner and reporting locked to your LEAF or can you measure mine next time we meet up? Don't know if I'll ever have an Android device, though it's tempting to get one exclusively for the LEAF!

It's not locked and can be used on any car. Happy to share it around with anyone who's interested. We should organise another meet up soon but maybe not till July when Mike is back from overseas. Or we can have a smaller one at the charger again.

Feng, did you buy an extension cord for your OBD scanner as you can't keep it plugged in while driving. Or do you just plug it in when you stop? I have now driven over 80,000kms on waste veg oil absolutely free of charge. My Leaf is actually expensive in consumption compared to my Hilux . Actually not true, for short distances the Leaf is cheaper as my start up fuel is diesel and for long distances the Leaf is more expensive. We have driven up as far as the Sunshine Coast from Melbourne and back almost entirely on donated fuel. I think I have achieved the perfect combination in cars now and I am keeping my money to myself instead of donating it to oil companies... rofl. Mine's a bluetooth dongle so I can leave it plugged in all the time. That's awesome, so do you just go to restaurants and ask nicely to take away their used oil? My parents used to own a Chinese restaurant and had friends and family who also owned restaurants. I feel like I missed an opportunity there!

I checked my SOH Yesterday. It's 94%, at approximately 8500km. From what Matt said I guess this is in the ball park of "expected".
Riddick, so what do they do with the oil if they don't give it to you? Do you provide a large plastic/steel drum for them to put it into, and they ring you up when it's full? 260 litres is a BIG drum. Mark

My one looks like this. It's tiny and doesn't get in the way so I just leave it plugged in. The power draw is meant to be small enough to not matter if the car gets used every day.

wow and I paid USD 99 + shipping . Tuarn tried one like that I believe, but didn't work reliably with imiev CanIon app. At least the Batman n Scantools dongles are recommended by Martin n Xavier, Canion developers.

This is mine: m.ebay.com.au/itm/390611035828?nav=SEARCHI bought it because it can be hacked to switch the power off when the leaf is off. However, it is too big to leave it plugged in while driving. Mark, I pick it up in 20 litre containers. Some of them sell it or it can go down the drain.
