Thanks to a helpful member here I was pointed in the direction of the Victorian Electric Vehicle trial e-news where they had a link to adopt an EV: enews-evtrials.transport.vic.gov.au/link/id/zzzz52b3d9e15c7af254/page.html#zzzz52b3d9cc57bb8948Full text below. I email the Nissan address and it didn't bounce back but I never got a response. Does anyone have any inside knowledge of when and how they will sell these cars? I thought it might be an awesome way to pick-up a cheap second hand Leaf. --------------------------------------------------------------- Adopt an EV With the fleet trials almost complete, the Nissan Leaf and iMiev EVs that have been used in the Electric Vehicle Trial will be looking for new homes. Purchasing a second-hand EV is a fantastic way to get in to the EV market, as they will be offered at a greatly reduced price. Organisations and individuals who have participated in the trial, as well as any member of the public, are welcome to apply. Send your name and contact details to leaftrial@nissan.com.au or mwilliamson@mmal.com.au if you are interested and Nissan or Mitsubishi will get back to.

You could ask Dean Despotovski, Nissan LEAF Customer Specialist, who is at Head Office in Melbourne, phone 1800 LEAF EV (1800 532 338) or email nissan_leaf@nissan.com.au

I had an email from Nissan fleet sales late last year saying they would be in contact soon with pricing. The trial just is wrapping up right now so expect them to hit the market very soon.
But remember they are EU spec, possibly Irish if I remember correctly, so on the plus side they have seat warmers, down side is the EU GPS maps that will not be changed.

Received this emai, today which was awesome. Hopefully we'll get more info soon. Seat warmers versus no GPS. I think I do want the GPS, are we sure these models will not have Aussie maps? Were all the trial vehicles the same?
EMAIL TEXT:
Thank you for previously registering your interest in purchasing a Nissan LEAF that was used in the recent Government trial program.
The trial is soon to end and these pre-loved vehicles will be looking for a new home in the next six to eight weeks.
Details of the Nissan LEAF Government trial vehicles;
• Build date of April 2011
• Compliance date of May 2011
• Each vehicle has travelled around 25,000km
• Available in two colours – Glacier White or Blue Ocean
• From less than $20,000 drive away, this represents a significant saving on the retail price of a new LEAF vehicle

I've wrote to them and I'll see how it goes as I'm in the market for a new car in the next 4 weeks or so My wife likes the silver colour though... I think she could live with white...

Hmmmm.....I bought an i MiEV last year, a 2010 demonstrator. My partner bought a 2012 this year. Trouble is, the family is increasing by one near the end of the year, and we won't fit in a four seater any more... Trading one i MiEV for a Leaf might be an option, especially at this price.

How do we get one to Perth?
Seems that it comes down to price. Sometimes it is good to keep gear at a premium price Eg apple So that customers feel that they are buying something special.

I'm still waiting for them to get back to me.. I've sent two emails, but nothing You probably won't. It's being "managed" by a govie dept. I sent an original enquiry email months ago and heard nothing until out of the blue I get an email advising they'll be on sale in 6-8 weeks and to respond if still interested. Of course no response to my email back. I don't expect one One a side note - is there anyone in Melbourne who has the bluetooth OBCD thingme that can come with me to check the battery SOH on the cars? I'd like to buy one which doesn't have a crap battery, especially if they have 20,000k's on them.

I spoke to the guy in charge today. There's over 80 expressions of interest in the cars, so firstly only Victorian residents who were involved in the trial will be considered, and they may still have a lottery to see who gets one.
I can't afford a new one yet, so I'll go back to watching for the first fleet cars to come up...

Bummer for you carnut1100, but it is good to see demand for the leaf's at that price. Puts a floor under the depreciation of the vehicles. Even at 50% that is higher than what a Commodore or Falcon ends up at after a couple of years.

yeah... I think I'd be near the end of the list too It's great to see the demand there, I think the vehicles will pretty much hold that price level for ages. The cost of the vehicle at that price VS the price of petrol/ running costs, I think that's the sweet spot where the vehicle is saving a lot of money for the owner...

Yeah....only those involved in the trial will get a look in to start with....
First fleet sales were march 2012 so early next year they will begin to trickle in... We will need a five seater from late December onwards if all goes normally... Might have to do family trips in two imievs for a few months... Either that or find the extra $20k from somewhere.....

Hopefully a lot of the 80 people on the list were just speculating and when the time comes won't be interested or ready to buy. Otherwise I'll probably miss out.

Am hoping to pickup my Leaf this week. I was one of the lucky ones to be offered one of the 14 vehicles in the Melb EV trial as part of a ballot system undertaken by Nissan Aust earlier this month. Am located in Geelong - any other members in the Geelong region? The vehicles are EU spec so unfortunately the sat Nav & Carwings are not operating. Cheers. PS thanks for the forum guys, it looks like a useful resource, keep up the good work.

Welcome to the Forum tj. I've never managed to get Carwings going but I love my LEAF. I'm sure there is at least one member of the forum in the Geelong area.

Am located in Geelong - any other members in the Geelong region? Hey tj, I'm in Point Cook, sort of just 'down the road'. Also jacky on this forum too. There are a couple of other LEAFs in Point Cook that are unfortunately not forum members. That's as close as the Geelong region any none members are so far. Although I often see a white LEAF wiz past me on the Princess Freeway passing my exit, so he could be anywhere from Werribee to Geelong, but alas I'm sure he is also not a member here. Enjoy the LEAF, and if you use the ChargePoint at Geelong Nissan, remember to check in on the PlugShare app and maybe add some photos of it. No one I know has used it yet.
