Goldie, I am also on the Victorian PFit tariff and you don't really have to forgo your 70 cents and the overall fossil fuel use will still be less. It is just that your neighbour down the street will run on your solar generated electricity instead of you. I always charge at night and we used to generate twice of what we use.

Agreed. I'm on a 20¢ tariff with our 6.5kwh system and I use or sell what we generate during the day at 20¢ and buy it back overnight at 11¢ to charge the LEAF.

I agree with Jim, Goldie, but I have to say I'm jealous of your 70c feed in tarrif, I get only 8c Mine seems to be the worst deal of the lot !!! I pay 27.4 c for what I take from the grid

Just shows that you are much better off using the power you generate Phoebe as it's expensive to buy and isn't worth selling.

Yep, that's why I charge my LEAF and cook my food during the day - being retired I am able to do this

Yep, that's why I charge my LEAF and cook my food during the day - being retired I am able to do this Yes that's the way to go when there is no value in the fit. Its what I suggest to people who now are just looking at solar panels. Its not the amount of the bloody low (or nil) fit that is across the eastern states now. Its the amount of electricity that can be used during the sun hours that is the real savers now. A slightly different way to look at it, to calculate your return on investment. Anyway Phoebe, look on the bright side, when its time to replace your LEAF batteries, you will still have great use from them for home storage of electrons produced from your PV. Then you will save heaps more at night as well. 4 sleeps to go before I pickup my Outlander PHEV. I feel like a kid the week before Xmas. Goldie

did you go with the Aspire PHEV? Hi g4qber. Yes I did order the Aspire. I will post a full spec of the car on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV thread. It is a cut and paste from info I have read on the car. No photos though yet, I will only post a photo of a real car I own.

Hi goldie
Did you get the Prius new? I used to have a preloved 2004 Prius Then changed to a golf 2.0 TDi wanted to try diesel Then added the imiev 2011 Then changed to golf blumotion wanted to try stop start tech and wanted manual rear view mirror Which changed into a volt.
Won't get a vw again as feng can atest. Though the egolf is tempting with its paddle shift regen.
Golf is a standard for hatches The indicators on imiev and volt don't turn off like the golf.
