HI Guys, I thought it would be helpful if we compiled a list a free or otherwise useful charging points. This could be helpful for reference when you are out and need a bit of juice. To start with I have added the Goulburn St Car park in Sydney. There are four spaces with free 15 amp outlets located not far from the mail entrance. They are reserved for electric vehicles only. Here is the link. www.secureparking.com.au/DisplayCarPark.aspx?carparkid=312

Just found www.betterplace.com.au.Anyone using public charge points rolled out by them.Their network seems to be only in VIC,NSW so far but there are more, and more widely spread points than ORIGIN in QLD.

Better Place have a weird structure of requiring a membership and their public charge points require you to have a membership and a cable that you purchased from them. I much prefer having the cable already attached to the charge point rather than having to get your own (Better Place compatible only) cable out to plug in. To much extra hassle. But they are currently offering the cable for a deposit of $399 and 2 years free use of their limited network. At the end of 2 years I guess you either pay membership fees or had back their cable.

Nissan tell me the LEAF's satnav only supplies info on Origin Energy charge points, of which there are none in W.A.. However, it does record any place at which you have charged, regardless of supplier. The cities of Perth and Fremantle have been installing 32 amp / three phase charge points in increasing numbers of their undercover car parks. ( I can supply a list if required ). You pay for parking, but so far the power comes free I used one of these today, using the LEAF's EVSE and a made up extension lead with a 32 amp plug and a 15 amp socket. The plug uses one of the three available phases from the wall socket. I agree that it wold be more convenient if the charge points provided the lead and ' pistol ', like Fossil Fuel Pumps. I believe this will come with greater uptake of EVs in Australia. A wish list for a LEAF satnav upgrade would be that it's data base would have all public charge points from all suppliers constantly up-dated as they are rolled out.

Herewith a pic of the 32A plug to 15A socket lead that I got made up. There are increasing numbers of 32A / three phase outlets in Perth carparks. The City of Fremantle is highly enlightened. They have a couple of 15A oulets with dedicated EV parking spots at their Henderson Street carpark. On completion of parking / charging, you take your ticket to the information kiosk, where it is stamped in such a way that on putting it into the exit barrier machine, it lets you out - with no charge for the parking or the chargingThat is EV friendly

Hi Brian, What is the pin-out for your 32A/3-phase to 15A cable? Where did you buy the parts for the cable?
Thanks.

Wow... I hope Tesla can stimulate others to setup rapid charger network! At the same time, I pray Tesla 3 will be affordable for me.
