Now, Nissan, is this the next release? On Facebook you had; "Racing in to a heart near you. Happy Valentine's Day!" You have been suggestive in he last few months.

Nissan in Japan sell the "Aero" kit for the leaf, makes it look a bit sporty!
Just Google "nissan leaf aero kit" for some pics.

There is a nismo kit. It looks really good. Even comes with a new motor module to get 90KW (-1 second to 100km/h)

yeah can't get the better ECU for the Australian car unfortunately, I spent some time chasing with some Nissan engineers in japan but they confirmed it is not compatible (I did get those lovely nismo wheels for ours though....must remember to take and post some pics soon)

Bummer, I think my LEAF was made in the Oppama factory (Tokyo bay), so I was hoping it would be OK. Maybe only for 2010/2011 models?

Certainly all Oz Leafs were made in Japan and AFAIK all in the same batch in 2011....you could post your VIN# (starts with ZEO, mine is ZE0A0200153 which I assume means Oz spec car #153). It's not where they were built that affects the ECU compatibility it is the spec the car was built to (ie Aus spec)

Actually mine seems to have been built in June 2012 and not in 2011. Given that we took delivery this January, I would hope it was not sitting around since 2011.
The aero kit looks good, but I think it won't fit ours as we have fog lights which is not on those models.

Yes sorry 2012 Even so, their current stock seems to be 2 years old, including the batteries of course. I'd be interested to hear from Nissan how they are looking after the batteries. BTW this is not the first slow seller for Nissan....in almost 3 years from 1990-1993 they did not sell all 200 Skyline GTRs that they imported....

The batteries were my concern also, as these cars have been sitting for approx 2 years I don't think you can just leave them, they probably need to be maintained over such a long period.

was at Northside Niss last night (car window shopping night in Perth) they had a cool touch screen interactive ad LCD panel. felt a bit like on Hawaii 5 0 one was able to rotate the PDFs at cool angles.
official price of LEAF on digi ad is $52,990 the $39,990 is supposed to end by 30/4, will be interesting to see what happens after then.
interesting how the 1.9 is also same figure as the outlander phev saw the upside down ad in the Australian yesterday evening. 6.1 to 1.9, funny how the outlander probably may use 6.1L/100 when in petrol mode.

$53 grand was/is expensive. I know lots of guys here paid the bigger price and so no offence meant but it's just that with the new cars hitting the market now like the i3 at $72K and the PHEV at $50-55K the Leaf at $53K is just not competitive. I think the $40K price will have to stay or else the 30 April end date was just to hold at $40 until either the new Gen 2 cars are announced for us here or a new offer is announced. THe 2012 stock cars are only getting older and the more the year goes on the less attractive they'll be for people.

The LEAF pricing of $39990 has been advertised to finish at the end of every other month so far. So I'm sure it he ad will be amended to May/June 30 once April 30 is here.

I saw this from a link on transport evolved. If the batteries are kept very low, then the cars can sit for a long time without any damage. I know the car is older and it has less appeal, but it should be just as good as the day it was made. youtu.be/pxP0Cu00sZs

What does everyone think will happen to the price when they clear the stock and bring in a new model? Do you think there will be a new RRP or will it go back to the original price?

So you think $39,990 will be the new RRP for new models when they eventually come in or just that the RRP will be less than it originally was?

I hope the price remains $39,990 if Nissan wants to push for greater adoption! The price point was the tipping point for me and at least someone else here or on Facebook (can't remember). I wonder if the eventual sale of the i3 will have any impact on the LEAF's pricing?

What does everyone think will happen to the price when they clear the stock and bring in a new model? Do you think there will be a new RRP or will it go back to the original price? My thinking is the new model will list at around the price of the first cut. $53k was too high but I don't think they could bring in a new one cheap while there's still any old stock. I think the new model will be $47-48 and the current ones will remain at $39990 until cleared or possibly all be "demos" and sell at a bit of a discount. The current models are a steal at $40k. As soon as I get my @$&# worked out I'm going to buy. If it takes a few months and they've brought in the 2013 model I'll probably get one only because I can lord it over you guys . I kid. seriously though if the new one is $53k I'm going to buy an old one.
