After my last service the dealer washed my very dirty LEAF and I noticed the paint in the front number was showing signs of bubbling, seems the clear coat is starting to peel off.
So I'm at the dealer now getting it checked out, has to go to a panal shop for respray quote then that needs to be passed to Nissan AU for approval so the whole process could take a few weeks just for approval.
So I just wanted to start a thread on it and keep you all updated on the progress of the claim/repair etc. also to make you guys aware of a possible paint issue.

Hope it all goes smoothly for you leafboi. Do you know if they have to put the car in the oven to bake the paint after the respray or does that not apply to the clear coat? The manual says the battery has to be removed before a car goes in an oven or else it risks damage. That makes it a bit more of a hassle!
On the topic of paint I noticed faint rust spots on the boot panel under the rear window near the wiper arm. It might be moisture collected from runoff or some other contaminant while the car was in the yard, I'll try to clean it off with product the next time I detail it. Has anyone else had this?
If it's any consolation, the My Nissan Leaf forum had a discussion about how thin the paint is on the LEAF.

Gosh! I just sprayed the paint on my scratch. I never thought about an oven

Not many panel shops put anything in the oven anymore. Their are easier ways to just spray it.
But it's my bumper that's peeling so it won't go in the oven because it plastic anyway. So in sure just a sand and respray.

That will be interesting to follow....at least they are getting it quoted which means they are admitting there is an issue.
Feng, can you put up a pic so we know where to look?

My claim was approved and the work is booked in for 18th December. So it's a speedy turn around for this time of year. Very pleased with the outcome.

Dropped the LEAF off bright and early today for its repair. Werribee Nissan have me a Pulsar as a loan car. Only a 1/4 tank of fuel, that I need to replace and when I looked at 'range remaining' it says 99km. I immediately had range anxiety! Damn those unpredictable petrol type cars.
I guess it was too much to think is have a LEAF as a loan car.

Don't think any dealer has more than 1 LEAF so they can't let anyone have while theirs is repaired. Good luck with the repair job

All finished. Picked the LEAF up late yesterday. So only one night without it which was a quick turnaround considering they told me a week! Paint bubbles gone and it's had a nice polish. Looking all brand new! Has restored my faith in warranty claims. But hopefully it's the one and only.

Less than a month after I got my bumpers fixed, I accidentally backed into a wall on the weekend! Pretty much put back the scratches I got resprayed, so at least I know it won't be too pricey to repair. My main concern is if respraying a bumper twice will make it look bad. The panel beater said it should be okay but if it's sprayed too many times you risk cracking the paint if there's any impact to the bumper.
I'm a bit annoyed with myself, I'm usually a good driver but it was a dark car park with wall I didn't see. The panel beater was understanding at least, he says having accidents after repairs "happens in threes". I'm going to chalk that front end impalement as the first of the three!

I wouldn't worry too much...I've had the front bumper on the race car resprayed more than 5 times without issues (damn slow cars in front). but btw....rear view camera not working ?

That's reassuring, I was wondering all week if I needed to sand the paint back first or if I'm being needlessly OCD over it (more than usual anyway!).
As for the rear view camera, I thought using a row of garage doors to guide me was fine. Stupid me didn't see the kink in the path of the very long underground car park. At least I didn't hit the wall at speed, I braked just as I touched it. A fraction of a second sooner and we wouldn't be having this conversation!

You blew it, should have gone back and said the paint mysteriously fell off somehow and demand they respray it immediately!
