Talk about the best dealer ever! Jayson from Steve Jarvin Nissan came and picked up our LEAF today, dropping off a loaner car, and took it in for its 1000KM checkup and interior protection treatment. Then dropped it back to us this afternoon, staying for a chat both times. Certainly pays to be a LEAF owner!

How far away are you from your dealer ?

About 20KMs.
All part of being the first private LEAF, Nissan decided which dealer it would come from.
They have taken very good care of us!

That's pretty good - I had imagined it would have been a good deal closer. We only have one Leaf-endorsed Nissan dealer here in Perth, and that is 32 kms distant.

There is now a dealer only 7KMs away, this was about Nissan appointing the dealer to deliver the first one.
Does put us in a quandary about future servicing, not there is much of it other than battery checks! We'll see how we go.

I also bought my LEAF from Jayson at Steve Jarvin Nissan at Burwood. He has been great. He is very knowledgeable about EVs in general and has been a keen advocate of the LEAF. I found him much better than the sales staff at the other Sydney LEAF dealers.

Hey Richard, have to agree. He's watched all the EV movies and really done his homework. Plus he's just a really nice guy. We chat about all kinds of things, many non EV related!

Sounds like fun! Is that the one in Strathfield? Have to run the LEAF down to 10KMs beforehand!

Billy at City Nissan in Melbourne was great. Kept us posted from order to delivery. When we found a small problem, they even had a loan car on standby in case ours needed work.
Very pleased with them.

I hate to put a dampner on the good vibes, but I have found my Nissan dealer (Alexandria, Sydney) to be less than wonderful, actually quite hopeless when it comes to my leaf. The sales guy was nice enough and obliging, but the level of knowledge about the car and the level of enthusiasm for it I found to be close to zero. At my recent service (10,000Km) nobody wanted to be involved. I have a message on the dash I assume is to tell me it is due for service, which I told them about and still it is there, with no explanation. I am heartened though to hear about much better experiences elsewhere. Pick up and loan car, I can only dream..... I also offered to speak to any interested customers (several times), I am waiting for the first call.

Mine at Artarmon wasn't much better, I nearly didn't buy the car, but I complained to Dean at Nissan Head Office and he gave them a shake up. You should try that David. Still can't imagine a loan car for a service as they weren't even keen to drive me to Artarmon station so I could catch a train back to Maitland when I was buying the car

When i picked up the car they said they had done a battery test, so I asked for a copy. Mr service showed me a report showing 13.8v not 400v I asked them to call me the following day to organise to send the real battery test results, still waiting for that call....

Dean's a great guy and will definitely get involved. My personal experience has been top notch so if you have Sydney friends interested in a Leaf send them to Jayson at Steve Jarvin Nissan.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Jayson when I took the LEAF for a test drive, he was definitely passionate about the LEAF and let the car sell for itself. I can only hope the after sales service will be as good!
Is there any reason why you can't buy the LEAF from one dealer and get it serviced at another? Rockdale Nissan is closer to me but they're only just starting up and I want to keep a close eye on them first.
Jayson's on holidays till next week for that matter.

Feng, there is no reason why you can't buy your LEAF from one dealer and get it serviced by another. Living in Maitland I had to go to Artarmon to buy my LEAF, because, at that time, it was the closest dealer licensed to sell and service the LEAF. When I went back for my first service I nearly didn't make the distance and got a lousy deal when I got there. I complained to Dean at Nissan Head Office and he told me that they have now licensed Kloster Nissan at Hamilton, in Newcatle, to sell and service the LEAF and suggested I go there in future. That is 36kms from my place as opposed to Artarmon which is 151 kms from my place. With Nissan blessing I will be going to the local dealer for future service.

I asked because when I bought the VW Golf the dealer added an extra two years of warranty to it if you keep taking it there for service even after the initial warranty period.

I think you might not get the first free service if you take it to another dealer, but after that I can't see that it would make much difference. I know Artarmon wanted me to pay more for extra Warranty so I didn't bother. As it happened they wouldn't give me a free service, anyway because it was 6 months before I had done 1,000 kms and they insisted on charging me for a 6 months service having booked my car in for a free one. Arriving there with flat batteries and needing a recharge before I could leave I had no choice. That was what made me angry and one reason why I'm not going back there again. You can ask the dealer you are buying from if there is any special deal if you get your LEAF serviced there, too.

Feng, Jayson's after sales service is fantastic! He takes a great interest and isn't just putting on an act trying to sell new cars. It's been a full year for us and I talk to Jayson all the time.
At some point I think I'll start having the LEAF serviced at Artarmon, which is only 12kms from me.

Hi Feng I take it from your enquiry you live in the southern suburbs as I do. I have inquired at the Rockdale Nissan and was met with blank stares (that was about 3 months ago though) so stuck with the place I bought from

Hi David,
Yeah I live in Bexley too. Disregard my PM to you, I missed your post about where you bought yours from. I did go to the Alexandria dealer last weekend but the specialist there doesn't work on weekends. Actually I just wanted to suss out where the charger was because it's showing offline on the Chargepoint website. Just in case I ever need to use it!
When I called the Rockdale dealer last week they said they're 2-6 weeks away from starting to sell LEAFs so that's progress!

Wow, we may have 2 LEAFs in Bexley, soon we may get a branch! (of LEAFs that is) Lol! Colour me excited! Which side of Bexley? My usual run is from Queen Victoria St to Bexley North to get on to the M5. Can't say I've seen you around but I'll be a lot more observant in future!
