I seem to be doing better than some of the rest of you. My 12 month service should have cost $255.78 but my air filter was like brand new because I don't use my air conditioner so they did not replace it and only charged me $175.00 for what they did. Now that was more honest than some of the others - am very happy with Kloster Nissan in Newcastle

I was quoted $94.80 for my $10k service, so when I said how is it capped, if it went up from $89? He said parts costs went up. I said what parts, you are only going to change a cabin filter. He said, yeah, that one. In the end he changed the price to $89.
When I came to pick up, I was charged $98. My key battery was low and they changed it for $9. I should have ordered one from e-bay as I still need to replace the other key battery. I think no filter was changed either. Also, the invoice has an item for $15 for misc oil and grease sale. What oil?

What oil? The $89 service only includes plugging in a computer and checking that battery voltage. They do nothing else. The cabin filter is only changed every 40,000km. Oil should not be used on door hinges either, they should be using lithium grease

It's great. NIL. Our LEAF is not going to be "serviced" by any one. Warranty. According to law, I don't have to take it.(wife deals with this subject all day). If there is proof that taking the car to have paper-ish filter not changed can ruin the battery, there is a case. Tesla are not basing their money on half assed "servicing". It's the same thing as range anxiety after all. The highest percentage of income for a Ford is after-sales. EV's are not dependant upon it. The reality is how often do you have your fridge "serviced"?. If you don't, the manufacturer still has an obligation. Safety is covered at road safety test time. Not once has a court ruled against an owner that failed to have their vacuum inspected by manufacturer as recommended. A note able point here though. If you can't or don't understand what the car needs to keep running safe, then take the car to someone to look at. Peace of mind & obligatory issues are sloped to others then.
Servicing will eventually become a thing of history, just like shoe & hoof cleaning. Not necessary if you could do it.

Except hoofs do not have 2,000 moving parts in them Or 200 parts in the EV hoofs. I mean cars Part of the reason i went for an EV is "it has 200 moving parts vs 2,000 moving parts in petrol cars. Service will be much cheaper". That does not seem to be the case though. For the first six services: Leaf: $1,078 Camry: $1,170 Ten times less moving parts. 8% cheaper service. Huh. Somebody is making a buck... Also, apparently there are some very expensive parts in Leaf. Like a $4,000 module which controls breaking. I would want someone to look at that thing regularly to make sure I don't have to pay for it out of pocket

I promise you no-one is looking inside parts to see if they are in good condition in a service. At best they check the brake fluid, coolant level, no obvious bushes damaged. Very short list when there is no oil, plugs, air filters etc to check
