On the subject of climate control, has anyone figured out how to have air flow in the cabin without having aircon or heat on? So far the closest I can get is to set the temp to the same as the outside temp, but I don't think this is a good solution. It still impacts the GOM estimate of range. If someone knows a way please share, as it could make all the difference for our trip.

Yeah, figured as much. Let us know what you think in the next couple of days and we'll figure it out. Jim No way, Jim. Let's wait 'til the 21st and see what the forecast is and what the bushfires are doing, wherever I go I'll be going through a lot of bush.

Weather forecast for next weekend is much cooler but bushfire in Watagan National Park is still burning and, over the last few days I've developed a health problem which may not be resolved by the weekend. All things considered I'm afraid I'm abandoning the idea of being part of the NSW LEAFers meeting Sunday 27 October Hope you have a great day wherever you decided to meet without me. Don't forget to tell the Caravan Park if you are not going there.

Not good to hear Phoebe, I hope everything is OK. Do you think you might be right to go if we delay a couple of weeks, it would be a shame not to meet one of our founding members

I agree with Duncan, there is no party without Phoebe! Let's delay until further notice. Feng, possible to contact the caravan park?

Ditto, it wouldn't be the same without you Phoebe, hope your health improves soon! I'll give the caravan park a heads up and maybe even point them to the forum.

I was hoping if I cancelled Sunday my health problem would sort itself out, and it has I am fit to go. Can I uncancel my cancellation for Sunday. They forecast mild weather so there may not be a better day for a long time than Sunday 27 October. Sorry to muck you all about - I think the original cause of my health problem was eating some fish that was 'off' - it is hard for me to work this out because I can't smell. I'll get you lot to smell my lunch before I eat in on Sunday ;D

Okay, so we're back on! Everyone good for Sunday?
Feng, do we know about the power situation at the caravan park? We are all relying on being able to all charge at the same time for a few hours to get home! Happy with $10/car.

Glad it's going ahead! I'll give a Katrena a heads up and will advise if there are any problems. Just checking there will be six of us: Jim, Phoebe, Duncan, Mike, Markrmarkr and myself. Anyone else interested let me know.
I'm still planning to pit in at Hornsby over breakfast just to break the trip up a little and get some charge there. I'll message everyone my number and will make separate plans with those who want to meet there first.
Will meeting at The Entrance at 11am be okay or do people prefer earlier or later?

Thanks Feng, message replied. I think it was previously mentioned that there was somewhere nearby to get food?....I guess we are all walking there if the cars are all charging

Feng, by 'The Entrance' I presume you mean Sun Valley Tourist Park, Bateau Bay. I plan to get there well before 11 AM because I want to charge right up again, even if I have to pay a bit more. I will call them myself on Friday to arrange that. I will take a book to read while I wait for the rest of you. We can communicate by text message if need be. Looking forward to seeing Jim again, and meeting the rest of you.

Phoebe, I haven't asked David directly and he didn't reply to this thread about wanting to go so I'm assuming he's unavailable to attend. And yes when I said The Entrance I meant the tourist park.
Duncan, yes there's the Shelly Beach cafe that's a short walk from the powered sites.
There are two carparks at Westfield Hornsby, the larger one has a non-functional Better Place quickcharger on the roof. It would be a somewhat fitting landmark to meet there wouldn't it? How does 8:30am sound, followed by breakfast in the area? Note that if people want to charge in the carpark they'll need to bring a 15A to 10A adapter.
I've heard back from Katrena and she said they're fine to have us on Sunday, just note that their office is closed for lunch between 12:30pm - 1:30pm so we'll have to arrive before then.

I'd like to meet at Hornsby at 0830 too.
On another note, I'm having a bit of trouble with the wife worrying about fires. Any suggestions for allaying her fears appreciated.

Haha! If it's any reassurance we can check the RFS website for bushfires in the area on the day. The weather forecast for Sunday looks like it won't be high risk.
On a whim I drove to Westfield Hornsby tonight to make sure the Better Place charger is still there in case it's been removed some time in the past three months. It's still there, all sad and unused. It's located in an undercover area of the roof, beneath the largest building/structure housing what I'm guessing are air conditioner condensers.
It looks like all the Sydneysiders will be meeting at Hornsby first. Phoebe, we'll keep you posted on our movements. Sorry for not replying to some who messaged/mailed me personally, got busy during the week. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Excellent! See you at the charger gravesite at 8:30. If we head out by 9:15 or so we should probably get to the park before 11? Just want to give Phoebe our ETA.
I think we'll all be anxious to immediately get them on charge at the tourist park to maximise our chances of getting home! ;-)
Reagarding Hornsby, are there a few power points up there? You suggested we might be able to charge with a 10a converter.

Yep there are 10A power points on all levels throughout the larger car park at Hornsby. 15A sockets at the caravan park. I recommend bringing a padlock along to lock your EVSE to your car when charging in public. The price was discussed elsewhere here; it's a really expensive part you wouldn't want stolen! The powered sites at the caravan park are near a public road as well. I just did a search and found this, not sure if they're still there since the post is a few years old: www.vexnews.com/2009/05/take-from-the-poor-give-to-the-rich-hippies-westfield-reserves-parking-for-hybrid-vehicles/. Since our cars aren't hybrids, I wonder if we're allowed the park there!?

I've been checking the RFS web site several times a day. There are 2 bushfires I'm keeping an eye on, Watagan National Park and Budgewoi, both are under control, some distance from my route and neither would affect any of the rest of you. I'll be taking my 10 amp converter with me, in case a new fire suddenly pops up somewhere and I have to ask a friendly local to let me charge up so I can take a longer route home. But I really think the worst of the new fire weather is over for now. I will text Jim and Feng when I get there to find out where you are and when you expect to arrive. That web page wouldn't even load for me, Feng.

Thanks Feng! Good advice. How would you lock it to the car? I know Nissan sells some kind of lock that keeps it in the charge port, but would rather do something simpler, like running a chain around the tyre and closing the lock around the charger cable. Any thoughts or photos on how you've secured it? Yep there are 10A power points on all levels throughout the larger car park at Hornsby. I recommend bringing a padlock along to lock your EVSE to your car when charging in public. The price was discussed elsewhere here; it's a really expensive part you wouldn't want stolen!
