I've had my LEAF for 7.5 years since new. For some reason, today I received an email notification that charging was complete. This is the first time I have ever received an email notification as I just assumed it didn't work in Australia.
I've made no changes to my Carwings account or settings.
Has anyone else been getting these emails before or has Nissan Australia changed something?

That's weird, we've all come to accept that the service was unceremoniously discontinued yet I was just able to log in. Did someone at Nissan Australia HQ reboot the server or something?! That might have something to do with your email.

Yes, its back. I can now login successfully. The trip data for the last week or so is also there, so the car is also communicating OK. However no luck retrieving the battery stats, but i'll see how it goes over the next few days. DAC

My email notifications had always been working prior the 'shutdown'.
Thanks to your post, I've rechecked mine and all working again too. Battery status and the lot.
Sigh, now I have to worry about upgrading the TCU to 4G again đ

Wah! I still get "User ID / Password invalid". I hate being an invalid I'll try pulling the fuse tomorrow. I like the "rebooted the server" idea, Feng. [ Edit: Leighf -> Feng ]

I reckon someone bumped the power cord by mistake (hence, rebooted the whole thing). It maybe an old desktop tower PC that got neglected in the warehouse covered in dust đ

I raised the death of Carwings with Nissan on 18 December and they said they would investigate.
On 29 December they sent me an email saying my UserID was wrong and I should try logging in again. That didnât work. Also, I have no idea how my UserID could change, or Nissan could change it without telling me.
On 12 January they said that âthere is an outage with the system at Telstraâs endâ which I find hard to believe since logging in to their owner portal on a web browser on a PC has nothing whatsoever to do with Telstra. Only the telematics part from the car uses Telstra 3G.
Today they told me the system was back up and running (although I still canât log in to the Ownerâs portal - says Login invalid, same with the App).
Iâm glad itâs now working for others, but itâs not working for me.

Do note the online daily record seems to be more reliable compared to the remote aircon via app. Mine is down again (remote aircon and battery stats), which is predictable... however, I still can logon. These are the leafs that still connected to the server as per today (if the owner opt in for public Carwing record via the global competition). You might want to check whether your leaf in in the list or not. If yes, then your TCU definitely talking to the server. I envy Elliott: N2002635 N2002666 N2029340 N2014457 N2029304 N2014518 N2002783 N2029367 N2020068 N2002662 N2002709 N2002704 N2051569 ELLIOTT N2014533 N2014507 N2019937 N2020061 N2019914 N2014428 N2029371 N2029348 N2020003 N2014463 N2002724

My car is in that list. Iâll go to the car and cycle through the various Carwings menus to see whatâs working and whatâs not. If Nissan sorts out my login problems, Iâll ask them whether they can change my Carwings ID to something a bit more memorable! I recall others in the past have said theyâve asked Nissan that but the response has been âitâs not possibleâ. Yah, sure.

I'm N2002635 and the only stat I pay attention to is who's driven the most in Australia. I'm usually in the top three. At 171,000km I'm guessing I'm one of the highest mileage owners in Australia. I'm only aware of Lesmando being higher than me. He was at 150k in late 2018.

I'll try pulling the fuse tomorrow. Well, I didn't hold much hope for that, and it didn't work. I reckon someone bumped the power cord by mistake (hence, rebooted the whole thing). I wonder if they split the data over two servers, and I'm on the one that's not rebooted. So now I have to wait another several months till someone trips over the other power cord

Well, I didn't hold much hope for that, and it didn't work. Yea, unable to logon is the bigger problem. Is your number on the list? Either way, definitely need to hire a hacker to bump the power cord đ

The suspension squeaks a little when I go over speed bumps at certain speeds. Other than that no issues. No plans to replace it for the foreseeable future.

Is your number on the list? No, I've disabled sending to the mother ship. All part of keeping the auxiliary battery in reasonable shape. I wondered for a while if that was why my access was taken away. I was never an exceptional driver, doing barely 10k km per year. I decided that the only features I really value are climate control, battery level, and starting a charge. None those things requires sending regular data to Nissan. I wouldn't mind sending it, if the telematics didn't regularly go into high usage mode when that's enabled.

Just the first bar, it's hovering around 80% SOH. This is after ~72k and three years. That's far better than my first pack which lost four bars in 100k and 4.5 years.
I wonder if I'll keep it for long enough to need a third pack installed?

I wonder if I'll keep it for long enough to need a third pack installed? Keep it for another 5 years then replace the battery with a 100 kWh solid state one that is 1/2 the weight. With the leaf you would not have to worry about disabling the battery cooling system and trying to trick the car that everything is OK.

That would be a really nice if it's available. If you search back to the early days of this forum you'll find owners talk about what upgrade options will exist in a few years. As it is you can either pay through the nose to get an OEM battery of the same capacity or hack a donor pack from a written off newer model. I think we fell well short of expectations there.

I wonder if I'll keep it for long enough to need a third pack installed? Thanks Feng, that's encouraging to hear. I'm hoping my replacement pack will behave the same like yours. From 100kkm driving to date, I've concluded most people don't need big batteries. However, fast charge is absolutely essential for those times when required. That's why I decided to change my battery pack. It's not the reduced capacity that troubled me most, but the reduced fast charging rate. I'm guessing not in the far future, this will be the way forward (smaller pack with ultra fast charge capable). Akin to megapixel wars in the camera world...

I hear you, Feng. I thought the same. I wasnât too concerned about a degraded pack after, say, 8 years because I would be able to put something higher capacity in at a much lower cost. Nope I didnât consider the form factor of the whole pack (a replacement has to be identical to be correctly mounted - limiting after-market interest), the software/BMS to integrate it (possibly hackable...) and that Nissan would be far more interested in selling you a new car rather than giving you a cheap-ish upgrade to keep your existing car running for another 10 years.
