Gday all,
The air con in our gen 1 Leaf appears to have stopped producing cool air. It was not a gradual decrease in coolness over time so I'm assuming there may be an issue with the compressor & not just requiring a re-gass. Has anyone had experiences with the air con in a gen 1? The compressor is electric so am not sure if I should go to a conventional automotive AC joint. Any suggestions?

My air-con (gen-1 Leaf) compressor did shut-off twice so far since I had the car in 2015 (I still don't know why to date). The energy consumption as shown on the 'climate control' drops to zero for a minute or two, and then went back to normal all of the sudden. Although the compressor is electric, my naive understanding, any automotive fridgie should be able to work it (as same principle). The only difference is the compressor pump, i.e. HVDC motor.

Thanks Rusdy, we only noticed last week that the AC wasn't working. We haven't noticed any intermittent issues over the 5 years we've had the Leaf. I spoke to the Geelong Nissan Service dude this arvo and he advises that the Leaf uses a different refridgerant than standard (similar to an BMW i3 apparently). Anyway, I've booked-in with them so I'll see how we go. Cheers

I have a 2012 and caught the air conditioner power going to zero for a minute or two, then all was well again. It was quite hot at the time, so I was glad to see it come good.
I wonder if it's that situation that air cons get into where you try to turn it on too soon since it went off, and it struggles compressing liquid or something. Maybe the Leaf detects this and shuts it off for a minute or two.
It would be great to know what exactly is happening.
