Driving along in the LEAF during the weekend, when the car horn began to sound continuously. It's not the most intimidating sound, but when it goes on and on and on, it's very irritating. Just ask the people at the park near where we stopped to investigate the problem. So much for their relaxing Sunday afternoon picnic ...
Nothing obvious on the dash fault lights so we popped the bonnet and started playing around with the fuse box. Took a while, but we finally managed to pull some fuses. Taking out the anti-theft horn fuse (relay?) didn't make any difference. When the fuse (relay?) for the horn was removed, the noise stopped. Relief all around!
My wife was actually quite happy with the incident as the exact same thing happened to her about a year ago. However, in this case, the horn went silent after 10 minutes or so. Nissan did a quick check on the car and couldn't find anything wrong. She's been wondering if the noise was imagined. Definitely not!
When I asked the Nissan dealer for their advice on what caused the problem, they asked me to bring the car in for a full systems check ($150).
Before I spend the dollars, I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. Was a full systems check needed to identify/fix the problem? Could it be as simple as replacing the horn fuse (relay)?

I would change the horn relay anyway as a precaution....
I assume the noise didn't stop when the car was shut down, so this makes it unlikely a software problem, and more likely chaffed wiring or a faulty relay.

Thanks for the advice.
You're correct with assuming the noise didn't stop when the car was switched off. Horn remains quiet with the offending relay sitting in the glove box.
Thinking we'll ask the service guys to put in a new relay and see what happens before committing to the full-blown systems check.
