I'm thinking of the 2014 model to replace our 2007 Mitsubishi Grandis. Anyone here already driving one, or have any tips of what to look for? I'm wondering what sort of battery degradation they experience, after having dealt with so much degradation in the Leaf.

There is a channel on YouTube called unplugged EV and the person behind the channel is an Outland PHEV owner. Perhaps he might be the best person to get in touch with to get the 101 on the Outlander PHEV.

Thanks, that youtube channel was very useful, and made me aware that the Outlander PHEV also has issues with battery degradation. The guy running it has had some positive response from Mitsubishi after grouping up with other owners to negotiate, so the method he used might be something that other EV owners with problems could use.
I've had to shelve the idea to buy a second EV for now, as in the last few weeks two of my teens have unexpectedly decided to go to Uni this year, and we will need our funds to support them instead. Perhaps it is a blessing, in that a better option for a larger EV may come along over the next few years. I have a market business, Easily Eco, so need a bit of space some of the time.

I know you posted that you have shelved the idea, but if anyone else is interested I have a 2014 PHEV so feel free to ask questions.

I've been following Andy on unplugged EV on Youtube and seeing his experience with battery degradation, what has your experience like with the pure EV aspect of your Outlander?

So far we’ve got about 40K on the odometer and the SOH is around 90% so seems to be doing ok. I believe Andy is up in Qld, and whilst the Mitsubishi does have some battery cooling I wonder if heat is a factor. I’m in Tasmania so a good EV climate, although winter battery range takes a hit with the heating on of course. Otherwise EV wise it does the job pretty well and gets the car moving along as long as you don't mash the right foot to hard, otherwise the ICE kicks in.
Overall I would say the Leaf is nicer to drive as it's quieter, has a better user interface with the multimedia system and is definitely zippier, but I like the regen paddle feature on the Outlander.

I've also been following Andy on Unplugged EV about his Outlander PHEV. It seems that his problem wasn't with battery degradation (and the battery was replaced), but to do with the battery management system. Mitsubishi has been trying out some adjustments, and time will tell whether they've worked.
I did like the Outlander when I test drove it, but other than possible BMS issues, the range isn't quite enough for how I'd want to use it, aiming for mostly EV.
Thanks for the input, rangersac.
