Hi, After owning my LEAF for two years, I’ve finally started using Carwings and the info on the App. It seems however the trip history is patchy at best. We drive the car everyday and yet there aren’t driving records for every day. Why might this be? Are we doing something wrong? On another note what do the information channels do? Are any of those available in Australia worthwhile? Thank you for any ideas and feedback.

Welcome to the forum, nofumz (nice name ) Driving history is recorded only if you “opt in” each trip, namely if you select Maps (the SatNav), and you click the “OK” button when it warns you about paying attention while driving. If you don’t do that, the trip data is not recorded in Carwings for that trip. The Carwings app and server do not need to be “up” for trip data to be recorded (eventually). The car will upload the data whenever it can. There have been extended periods (weeks) where the system was apparently offline, but when it comes back up again, I’ve been able to go into Carwings and download the trip data, even for the weeks when it was offline. I have kept all my driving data (Carwings retains it for about 6 months) and the only gap was 2 months post-GSM closure when the TCU could no longer send or receive data, until it was replaced with a 3G TCU. The information channels are not very useful. You can programme in RSS feeds of interest from the internet, and if you select them in the car, the feed will be read out using a synthesized voice. I found it painful to listen to, hard to actually follow what was being read out, and have never used them on a regular basis.

Thank you EVangelist that was very useful. It seems the need to approve by pressing OK on the screen every drive was our issue. I did it most of the time and my wife did it rarely so we got patchy trip history. We’ll do it every trip now and see whether that was the cause. Won’t be using the information channels after your explanation and my own firsthand experience. Thanks again!
