This has been dealt with in other threads, one of them is 'DIY: Plug the supplier charger in a normal point'.

Check out the AmpFibian adaptors - available everywhere (Bunnings have them), Australian made, have safety features (RCD, etc) and come in a range of different price points. ampfibian.com.au/products/I have the $99 one (AmpFibian Mini). Tip - if you go for the Max, the standard Leaf EVSE will not fit in the housing - you'll need an extension cord as well.

I will point out that if you do this and there are any issues with the lead in the future then you are likely to be liable legally, morally and ethically. So ask yourself. - "Do you feel lucky?"

Leaf draws less than 10A, unless one has a non standard EVSE, this is only for the Leaf, the circuit breaker at the destination charge point would be 10A. Putting a plugtop on isn't something that is something that requires a ticket to do. I fail to see the issue. Morally?Ethically?Legally? good grief, I'm not proposing to go out and commit genocide

LEAF can burst to more than 10 AMPs on the Nissan EVSE. I use a Clipsal 15AMP portable meter and see it rise above 10 AMPs depending on the voltage. It should normally draw 9.6 AMPs. If you replace the plugtop, check it weekly for a while, about 15-30 minutes into a charge, check the connectors are not hot.

Generally those who are 'not semi responsible or even fully responsible' do not recognise that they 'not semi responsible or even fully responsible'. How to identify somebody who is 'not semi responsible or even fully responsible' - look in a mirror (and I include myself in this group).

We charge using the factory EVSE with 15A plug and a home made 15A to 10A adapter regularly without an issue. I suspect a poor quality connection in the plug you received from the previous owner. If you start with a 15A cable and put a 10A plug on it carefully I can't see why there would be a problem since the factory EVSE is under 10A

I've checked my LEAF current over several months and it has NEVER exceeded 10A - usually about 9.85-9.9. Therefore a 10A plug is fine. It WILL get hot - have you ever plugged a 2400W (10A) heater in and felt the plug (even the cord) after a few hours? The main thing to watch is you use a heavy duty cable to minimise voltage drop - that creates heat which is what distorts/melts plugs. Also keep the plug prongs clean and bright/shiny - corroded or even tarnished will also create heat. But apart from that, go for it. (BTW, if I have to charge the LEAF at work I have made up a short (300mm) 10A to 15A adaptor lead - no 15A outlets at work!

Indeed, it does not exceed the fuse rating at the power box. The house should be protected correctly, and as such, I can't see how it can draw more than ten Amps through the power box ten amp fuse. Lop the plug off, buy a good quality plug, and install it. No suicide, not anything close to. A good plug is a Clipsal 56P310.

A lot of plugs one can buy are sub-standard. I defy anyone to prove different. I also!!! Have the 10amp Clipsal item on my travel charger, which exhibits no heat issues in a 15amp socket. The bigger Earth pin is simply that, but if you can pull the power draw in the evse back to 10amp MAX, that's all it will draw.... period. Now my 10/15 evse works on all sockets. Even IF! ! I leave it on 15a in a 10a socket, it pops the buildings 10a fuse, as it should, it's limiting the power to the socket.
