I met a Tesla owner at BMW in the Fortitude Valley this afternoon. He was trying his CHAdeMO adapter, but it would not work with the Veefil. But the Veefil worked when I plugged in my car, so must have been the adapter Also he showed me his J1772 socket to Mennekes plug convertor, was nicely done. Les

He was trying his CHAdeMO adapter, but it would not work with the Veefil. Did he know Tritium are local? I'm sure they would like to get that working given they have that deal to export to Chargepoint in the US.

We assumed the adapter was broken, the call centre said there had been some faulty units.

I saw a black Leaf on Kissing point Rd, in Sydney. Looked very tidy, and made me realise I need to clean Autumn. His plates were "NOGAS", green on black. We honked waved and smiled a lot.
It's good to see another leaf for a change. I'm getting tired of all the Teslas.

I have to say, I'm a bit disturbed by the Tesla's quoted range of 502km. I know our Leafs quote 170km, which is only possible with the most conservative driving. But in the case of the 85, this is even more misleading. The reason I say this is because for you to be interested in this range figure you'd have to be thinking of driving on highways. No-one will be thinking of driving 502km in the city, because this can only happen over a period of days. And there will be much more opportunity to charge during this period.
Granted Nissan and others also exaggerate the range, but not to anywhere near the same extent. If your thinking of going on a trip, half your trip will be just getting out of and into the city. And in the city this kind of range is possible (just).
I say this having spoken to a Tesla salesman, who told me that a trip from Sydney to Canberra (286km) is only just possible. I'd assume the problem is loss of range at highway speeds.
My point is that "performance figures for a car which is built for long trips, on highways, should quote highway range, at highway speeds".
Let the flaming begin.

Lol, 175km in a LEAF on a full charge is only possible brand new (that first day) in Japan doing 40km/h in Tokyo streets. The cycle testing is the issue. I look at the American EPA results now. They say 426km for a tesla with 85Kwh battery. Which is what people in Australia say they are getting.

Les that's a bit harsh on the LEAF. I got from Atarmon on the Freeway to Telarah near Maitland with17 km left on the clock - I was doing a lot more than 40kph. However you are right when you say it doesn't last long. I couldn't make it back to Artarmon

Does anyone know how many leafs there are on the GOld Coast? I have been asked a few times and the kids are curious. We've only seen one other so far... A white one with dealer branding on the back window. Apparently owned from someone in coomera so my dealer tells me. Amazingly we spotted it in our own street in southport!

While I was driving to the Blackburn level 2 charger to try and get a bit of extra juice to make it home (fast charger out of order at Swinburne ) I saw a White Tesla Model S at the traffic lights. I looked on longingly at his 400 km's plus of range. Off topic I got the low battery wanring 15 km's from home and the very low battery warning and flashing bars of "no range left" about 7 km's from home. Drive at 40 km/h and crawled home. I have 1 km of very steep hill right before my house which worried me. But I didn't get turtle and so made it home OK. Bit nervous though .

That's some range anxiety there southernvolt - squeaky bum time! I would have been holding my breath. I think the lowest we've ever got the GOM down to is 8 km, not even close.

I saw a burgundy Tesla Model S up close at the Addison Rd Centre, Marrickville, yesterday afternoon. They look seriously intimidating. It had to go over the killer speed bumps there at ultra low speed though (as I do in the Leaf). You see Teslas around Macquarie Park too, Australia's so-called answer to 'silicon valley' - which fits.
I've now seen more Teslas in the wild than Leafs. What does that say?

An i3 sandwich please. You don't call two slices of bread around some sliced cucumber a bread sandwich.
