Much cheaper than what was rumored a few years back. Nice to see pricing comparable to the US (factoring in GST/ Currency etc)

Just priced mine up with the features I'd want, $137,000 in NSW.

Never been a fan of FROM $91,000 when you can never ever possibly actually realistically get the car for that. The lowest price is in fact $97,000 in certain parts of the country.

I think Tesla is great but I could never bring myself to "waste" that much money on a something that looses values so much as a car.

I love the model s. It's an absolutely amazing ev. Finally an ev in au that can achieve ~400km of range from the factory. I can't afford $100k for a second ev, but if/when the prices do drop to a more affordable point then I'll trade my ice vehicle for one and move to an all ev household ...

I don't think it's fair to say get another LEAF and chargers. It's like the arguments I had with non-EV believers who said they can get a Yaris for $16k so that's what a LEAF is worth. BECAUSE THE LEAF IS A NICER CAR AND COSTS MORE! Same with the Model S. It's a truly beautifully designed car, inside and out. May as well say get 3 Camrys instead of a Maserati.
Personally I'd rather have a Model S than another LEAF and some chargers, would be an incredible ride and a joy to drive.
Having said that, I have no intention of buying the Model S, but I don't think it's worth every cent.

what features did you select jim? Nothing special, mainly the 85KWH battery, enhanced internal lighting, all tech features and the improved sound system. Wasn't interested in the "Duncan Features" like super wheels, spoiler, radio active paint and the like, more of the internal comfort stuff. Didn't take long to get up to that price, that's for sure!

I'm with you Jim, I sat in one at the Frankfurt motor show and fell in love, will probably have to wait for the 4th gen model(?)though. Musk has the correct strategy by convincing the high wealth sector first then supplying the masses once costs, infrastructure and exposure are all covered.

I get what your saying i guess when i look at the model S I'm looking at a luxury car I'm looking at a EV that has a 500km range... and in my head i can achieve that sort of range with cheaper EVs and some dc fast chargers (where the fast chargers might be able to have some return where as a car rarely has a return on investment) as for wanting a car that can do 0-100 in under 6 seconds and blow away ss commodores and xr6s well this is a 2nd want, and I’ve never been much of a rev head. I also wouldn't buy a bmw 5 series, Mercedes Benz, and all those other brands that start at $100k.

Yeah, speed does nothing for me, I have no interest in it at all, but I do admire, and am willing to pay for, beautiful design, style and technical innovation, and the Model S has all of these. I won't be buying one, just saying it is well worth it!

lol Duncan features I do love what they've done with pricing. I won't be replacing the leaf with one for 5 years, but might consider afterwards.
