I'm hoping they come up to Newcastle for the EV festival but they haven't confirmed that they will be coming yet.

Think it might be coming to the Hunter Valley EV Festival too - also maybe that record breaking solar car - hope so!

It was a total geekfest and everyone had a great time. James the Tesla rep said that there are only four Model S in the southern hemisphere: Two in Sydney and two in Melbourne so we were very lucky to get a close up view of it. Thanks for making it happen Marc and Davina!
Attached are some more photos. Didn't bother with group shots, got too carried away with the Tesla!

For future reference: I ended up having a second lunch with Ayla at the kiosk since the serving size at the cafe was a bit small. The kiosk had better food than the cafe and for cheaper. You only miss out on the view! Sorry for holding up the departure in the end, Ayla was embarrassed about that but it was a misunderstanding between her and myself.

Couldn't tell, the friction from dozens of people clamouring around it constantly caused the temperature to rise by about 15 degrees.

making the car light. carbon fibre
LEAF = 1500 kg imiev = 1100 volt = 1700
only having 2 seats.
narrower wheels
sports car shape not good for some seniors i.e. close to the ground, requiring one to roll out of the vehicle
hub motors, less drivetrain needed.

There's talk on the AEVA forum of an i-MiEV owners meet in mid-May up at Sun Valley Tourist Park. Other EV owners can attend too. We had fun when we did it two years ago but I can understand if the novelty has worn off for some. I'd still be up for it and maybe some newer owners might be interested: forums.aeva.asn.au/nsw-imiev-owners-meet-and-greet_topic4421.html.

Think I'd pass on that. Might make it back to the event at Cameron Park, but that is a lot closer for me.

Let me know if you end up going. Not sure I'd want to drive up again but if was okay with you might meet up in Hornsby or something and catch a lift with you. If not I'm easy. I thought there was a mistake with the ChargePoint website when it jumped from 26 to 46 in the Sydney region but no, it turns out that there really are 20 charging bays planned for the entertainment precinct at Darling Harbour (10 x 2 bay units). It's meant to be operational within the next month, I will check it out when it is. If there's going to be another Sydney LEAF owners meet that sounds like the ideal place.
In separate news, it looks like the official Nissan LEAF Australia Facebook page is gone.

The ChargePoint at my employer is not listed on the ChargePoint site, presumably because it is not publicly accessible. In separate news, it looks like the official Nissan LEAF Australia Facebook page is gone. Curiously, I just checked my bookmark for the Nissan Leaf page on their website, and it still works, even though you can't buy them any more! And it still says "Blue Ocean is no longer available" but neither is white, red or black

Looks like a plan to me.
Suppose we have to hatch an idea then?.
Month first, then week.

How about a topical place to meet. Thinking Eco, Enviro etc. Sustainable living center, then to restaurant/cafe in Botanic Gardens, then through to Camden?.
Just an idea....

Feng kicked it off with a suggestion to meet at the 20 new chargepoints at Darling Harbour. A Leaf-charge-fest! Feng was going to check them out first to see exactly where they are.

I'm easy. If there are other interesting places to meet I'm happy to tag along. I've organised a few meets in Sydney and I'm happy to hand over to other keen owners.
The number of ChargePoints at Darling Harbour has dropped to 14 but it could be just work in progress. I still plan to check it out at a later date.
There's also going to be a DC fast charger opening up at the University of Wollongong in the coming weeks which I look forward to checking out. It'll make the south a lot more accessible.

From what I can gather, it's been mooted for a while now. Is there action now?.
My 15a socket for EV charging for fellow travellers materialised yesterday. I'll get the 40a cable pulled through the house next. Always a socket available here, but this one will be on the pillar mid-garage door. That way I don't have to be around, night or day then. I have a 15a charger, which will do a quicker top-up for travellers then.
Back on the subject.... Happy to do the Darling Harbour thing. So there looks like two options now. First to Botanic Gardens. Second to Darling harbour, and possibly a third to the 'gong.
Looking like we may have a plan beginning to hatch. For further travel, the DCFC at Strathfield. The 'Gong uni has normal charge points, but not sure of the spec. Maybe Feng could clarify what they are?.

UoW currently has two bay L2 ChargePoint: api.plugshare.com/view/location/80965The fast charger will be at their Innovation Campus, which is elsewhere in Wollongong. Last I heard about two weeks ago they were pouring concrete and the Veefil is on-site and waiting to be installed.
