Yeah, static. I'm just an electric type of guy. Still to get some kind of a boot from the Leaf battery.

Hey Mark they look great, good choice. Can you confirm the offset on the 7.5" wheel and that there is no scraping? Good data for anyone else thinking about it

Hey Mark they look great, good choice. Can you confirm the offset on the 7.5" wheel and that there is no scraping? Good data for anyone else thinking about it It took me a while to dig up the figure. Hence the delay in responding. It was +40 on all wheels. And there is no rubbing scraping or anything else. I've amended my original post with this data. After I'd done it all, and looking at the car, I reckon I could have gone to 19" and still had some spare room. But I'm glad I didn't as the choose of tyres and wheels would have been a lot less, and costs would have been a lot more. Having driven on this set-up for a while now I can safely say "I don't have any problems, and am quite happy with it". Especially the improved grip which is just chalk and cheese. The speedo is now a lot closer to accurate, and this has led to an interesting question: My economy, according to the car has gotten about 0.01 or 0.02 worse in KWh/Km. So like 0.15 or 0.16 instead of 0.14 - about 6% or 12%. But with the more accurate speedo which reads about 8% more accurately, the economy loss is probably not as bad as the car is telling me. Add on to that the fact that I now find myself driving me freely, though still within what the tyres can handle, and I really don't think there is much in it, economy wise, between the old tyres and wheels, and the new ones. What about you Duncan? How are you finding it.

Great to hear you are enjoying the change.
To be honest I haven't checked the economy data, and it really doesn't worry me in the slightest.
I've changed wheels/tyres on pretty much every car I've owned over the last 10 years and never worried about economy before, and I'm not starting now. To me the critical factors are grip first and foremost, then cost, noise and longevity. The tyres I've put on are brilliant and it feels like a different car; the difference is as big as when we changed the suspension. It zooms thoroughly well now.
I know many people here, and many people thinking about an electric car think about range first and foremost but to me it's not an issue. We have plentiful range for our use, and as the batteries age a bit the worst that may happen is we go from charging every 3 days back to every 2. meh.
Nothing like the range anxiety I get from the Cima, this morning the fuel light came on 70klm out of Canberra!

on the imiev Tuarn n I have changed our fronts from 145 to 155s
orig profiles are smart car profiles 145 front 175 rear
definitely makes a difference in handling n crosswinds, like a new car literally. still can't believe how 10mm on either side makes such a diff
only thing is range/economy feels reduced.
mitsu probably went with smart dimensions, cos they may have thought that this was the "standard" for vehicles of this class
also pottering around <70km in a city is OK, but doing 80+ on high/freeways with crosswinds is a different matter.
This was the first thing I noticed when I got the i. I had to do more correcting on the freeway than the golf.

unless you've got the same brand and model of tyre, the difference in grip is more likely to be the tyre itself rather than the extra width. there is an argument that lower profile sidewalls might change (improve) the handling, but unlikely wider, especially 10mm would be noticeable.

I tried this. All worked well for me. The only problem was that it only gives a +-2.5% adjustment. To go at 80km/h by Garmin GPS in need to be showing 87 on the speedo. Out by just under 10% (in the right way) That's great Jeffjl, any idea what the trick is to make it work? Mark Took me a while to get this to work; 1)Car needs to be ON as opposed to READY (ie driver display lit up but without the green car symbol) You get this by pressing the start button twice without your foot on the brake. Press OK on the map screen. 2)Wait for carwings to finish its connect sequence or press STOP if you don't want to wait 3)If radio is not on put it on then try Feng's sequence fairly promptly (ie audio press, 3 map presses, 2 audio presses, 1 map press) in rapid sequence with no pauses not sure if the above is a requirement or just coincidence but that's how it worked for me after about half a dozen trys.

Not much good anyway. What is the point of a max -2.5% adjustment (in 0.1% increments no less)when your speed is over reading 6km/h @ 80kph?!

Thanks Kris, I'll have another crack. If I can get it to work it should put me spot on for accuracy. I'll keep you informed.

I finally got this to work following kris' modified version of Matt's instructions. I did find one thing that made life a lot easier - it's not necessary to do the full cycle. If you do the cycle and it doesn't work (which is most likely the case) you don't need to turn the car off and on again (push starter twice with foot off brake). You can skip that part and just start from turning the radio on and off. It took me a lot of tries for each of my successes. I'd say about 20. The first time I had success I got the adjustment backwards, which made the accuracy worse. But even after fixing this I am still about 2% out (so the speedo will show 51 km/h when I'm doing 50 km/h. I guess I can live with this. Thanks guys for all the help. Mark Update on 1 July 2015. This process doesn't appear to make a measurable difference. Bummer.

I'm a sucker for a good looking set of wheels. Has anyone else done up wheels on the leaf lately? Would love to see pics
