How do I go about this, tried the online in car option to no avail. Living on the Sunshine coast the streets are added weekly I think. Any ideas?

Have there been any map updates provided for the Leaf?

I just called up my dealer's spare parts dept to ask because I was curious too. The guy tried to look for an update on his computer but couldn't find one so he thinks there isn't an update for the LEAF yet. He said that they're usually issued every two years which means updates should be out soon since it's overdue (fingers crossed). The GPS maps which come with the LEAF are dated 27/01/12.

They told me they were talking to Japan for an update but didn't have an expected timeframe.

When I bought my Leaf two weeks ago, I asked about map updates. The salesman said that updates could be bought, but he had heard that some drivers had managed to download updates for free off the internet. Not sure of the veracity of any of this, but a bit disappointed to hear that the maps in the car are from 2012 (duh!) - like StewartM, I live on the Sunshine Coast, and new streets pop up constantly. I've already had experience where the sat nav seemed unaware of the road I was on.

My hopes were raised a few weeks ago when I talked to my Leaf salesman, and he said I could get the Leaf satnav updated by the service department. I've just followed through with a call to the service department, and they said they have no updates. Sadly the updates are specific to each model, and cost between $200 - $340. Sheeesh! I'm thinking of sending a letter, but want to deal with my non-working Carwings first.

I wonder if a petition would help encourage them to release an update for us?

I wonder if a petition would help encourage them to release an update for us? If you start a petition, I will definitely sign on it. Nothing to lose, right?

I gave up on map updates ever being timely or affordable. I just mount my phone to the dash with a sticky pad and use google maps. Upside is that Navigation directions will pause playback instead of just talking over it.

I understand that it is a similar update to other Nissan gps units with an addin module to allow ota updates of the charge stations as poi's. Just need Nissan to get it in a pile.

Maybe by the time they give us an update, New Zealand will be incorporated into the Republic of Australia, and as an added bonus, the East Islands will appear on the maps - which will be good for us over here!

Shouldn't that be the North and South East Islands? We already have Tasmania after all, so I guess we will have to start differentiating all four Islands. I'd propose we call them: The big island (Australian Mainland) The little Island (Tasmania) The SE Island (NZ South Island) The NE Island (NZ North Island) And we call it The Republic of Anzania. It was good enough for the ANZACs, it should be good enough for us. I don't know what we can do with two red leafs owned by Marks though

According to one dealer muppet I spoke with, Leaf map data is exactly the same as is used in every other Nissan. Way back when it cost something astronomical, but I understand that these days its supposedly updated during a service (assuming of course that updated map data has actually been released). Personally I wouldn't trust Nissan Australia too far and I'm trying to find information on what operating system we are dealing with. Hopefully its just android, which should mean we can use google maps.

I think I read somewhere a while ago it's actually Windows Embedded. Either way I've given up all hope of updating it and will keep an eye out for a decent phone holder instead.
