I think now that importing 2nd LEAFs from Japan is OK, that will drop the value of of 2nd hand vehicles as well. The SHORTAGE of supply may not last much longer. 2nd hand electric vehicles overseas have low resale value because they were bought new many thousands of dollars cheaper because of government subsidies. You can not sell at 2nd hand one for more than what you can buy a subsidized new one for.
I would really like to know, who can supply batteries at $200 a kWh? I think one journalist wrote this, and everybody else copied it. I think the first journalist heard that Nissan where replacing "subsidized" LEAF batteries at $5000 US and therefore assumed you could buy these batteries for $200 a kWh.
