How do you know it's 40kWh? It could be the 60kWh? (I'm aware Hyundai are only bringing the 64 kWh version of the Kona to Australia, the 40 kWh will not be available - so you never know!)

True, guess I should curb my enthusiasm till the announcement is actually made, right now any news is better than what Nissan Australia has been giving so far. However, that said, the fact that the 60kw Leaf has not been announced in any other market, I high doubt that we Australians will get special privilege with news and or access regarding the bigger battery.

Or maybe it's a simulcast to the Paris Auto Show where they will announce the 60kw LEAF?

Or maybe they are announcing the new X-Trail Oh boy... If that turns out to be the case, my Thursday will be ruined for sure and will lock in my mind Nissan Australia as top contender for troll of the year award.

Or maybe it's a simulcast to the Paris Auto Show where they will announce the 60kw LEAF? I have sent a tweet to Jonny Smith who is at Paris Auto Show to ask if he has heard anything from Nissan international. I’ll wait for an answer, if he can be bothered.

One interesting thing - they will have 89 dealers rather than the original 12 able to sell and service them - could be good for existing Leaf owners, as I struggle to get to Brisbane range-wise for service from the Sunshine Coast. Also setting up a partnership with Jetcharge.

Also setting up a partnership with Jetcharge. They also mentioned that jetcharge will be installing charging infrastructure at all 89 dealers, I asked Jet Charge whether it will be DC Fast chargers or Level 2 j1772, no response yet.

The biggest difference I noticed is it uses a type 2 socket. It might be time to invest in an adaptor.

J1772 with a type 2 socket. Same protocol but the type 2 is better because it can support 3 phase.

J1772 with a type 2 socket. Same protocol but the type 2 is better because it can support 3 phase. So does that mean it can use Tesla’s ‘Destination Chargers’?

So does that mean it can use Tesla’s ‘Destination Chargers’? Probably, but it may require an adaptor since the Tesla modified Mennekes plug is 11mm shorter than a standard Mennekes. So if you plug a Tesla destination charger plug into a non-Tesla Mennekes socket, the pins might not “make” and no juice will flow. See the thread here for discussion on J1772 to Tesla HPWC adaptors.

I like it except for the stripes on the charge cover. I just wish it has added performance to live up to the badge.
